Bully By Penelope Douglas

My name is Tate. He doesn't call me that, though. He would never refer to me so informally, if he referred to me at all. No, he'll barely even speak to me.

But he still won't leave me alone.

We were best friends once. Then he turned on me and made it his mission to ruin my life. I've been humiliated, shut out, and gossiped about all through high school. His pranks and rumors got more sadistic as time wore on, and I made myself sick trying to stay out of his way. I even went to France for a year, just to avoid him.

But I'm done hiding from him now, and there's no way in hell I'll allow him to ruin my senior year. He might not have changed, but I have. It's time to fight back. Read on for my review ......

Read this novel back in August and loved it. The novel can reach out to all kinds of ages as the characters are quite mature beings they are at high school.

Jared the main character in the book is a complete jerk to Tate. They were best friends at one point in their lives then everything changed and Tate never new why. Only that Jared made her life a living hell and she hated everything him and his friends did to her. He was so cruel and was so beyond a jerk i could have punched him through my book at times, mostly his friend Nate. God i hated that boy more.

Tate is a wonderful character i loved her fight, her come backs, her pranks and most of all her determination. Jared sees her cry, makes her cry and she still comes stands up tall. She takes a year away from school as things got really bad and couldn't take it anymore. Most people would call that running but no !! it was her way of surviving. She leaves and comes back a stronger person, ready for whatever they throw at her. I admired her so much. Bullies can be cruel and just plain evil but when it someone you loved and trusted it must be harder to cope with. Especially when Tate has no idea what changed in their relationship.

As the book goes on and we see glimpse of the old Jared and flash backs to what Tate is showing us we see another side to him. We also know that what ever happened to him the summer he left for his dads was bad, really bad. He was never the same again but it still doesn't explain his hatred for Tate even after his explanation i thought it was childish and un-called for.

The book is very explicit when it comes to the sexual scenes and at their age Jared sure as hell knows his stuff. Even at a young age the writer makes the scene believable and very detailed. Loved it. It was times when they were truly alone, together that i started to like Jared but i still couldn't trust him. I am all for forgiveness but sometimes, somethings aren't meant to be forgiven and he did do some pretty shitty stuff.

Lastly without giving too much of the story away is i was so shocked at the ending. Really shocked i honestly believed Jared did that to her. He promised her after all he was going to make her wish she never retaliated and would make her cry again. I felt so broken for Tate, no body and i mean nobody deserves what happened.

The story is kind of hard to explain into feelings but in the end you will love them together and know they are truly meant to be together.

4* for Penelope Douglas
