Until Sage (Until Him) By Aurora Rose Reynolds

Sage Mayson had Kimberly Cullen once, and the memory of that brief encounter has tortured him since the moment he pushed her away. He should have followed his gut, but he didn’t, and now he’s left watching the woman he wants more than anything from afar.

Kimberly vowed to protect her heart from Sage, but when her sister is murdered and her world starts to fall apart, he’s the one person she finds herself leaning on.

Getting a second chance is something Sage knows is rare. He’s not going to squander the one he’s been given, and he won’t take no for an answer when it comes to making Kim his.

But what Sage doesn’t know is Kim has a secret that could leave them both devastated and heartbroken

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review....

I'm not going to lie, I'm disappointed about how the last two books turned out (TO ME) I know there are thousands who enjoyed the last two.

But something about this one really bored me. Like, it took me awhile to read it and usually I can devour a book in a night, hell, an hour. But this took me a week and a half.
I knew the story plot before it even happened. Nothing in it surprised me at all, or kept me hooked. And although I love the whole BOOM theory, I didn't feel it in the last two books.

I felt like we missed a chapter in Until Ashlyn when she's kidnapped. It all happened too fast and out of nowhere, and in this one, we got nothing. It just didn't have that BOOM effect.

The part I did like was the adoption scenario. My mom is adopted and I can't imagine my life without my nan. She's amazing. And although most stories where adoption is involved turn out bad, I'm glad this one didn't.
I know every story is different but when people get angry for finding out their adopted, it makes me angry. They get angry at the wrong person and it breaks my heart.
Adoption is a beautiful thing.
People often wonder how someone could love a child that is not theirs. They may not be blood, but they are their child. They love you just as much because you're a gift given to them. Because life, life is precious.

Anyway...

Back to the story...

I loved her parents. How involved they were, how much they loved her. But more than that, I loved how Sage didn't even think twice about adopting.

Because of that part being in the story, I'm going to give it a 3*

Standing His Ground (Porter Brothers Trilogy #2) By Jamie Begley

The Porter brothers were raised to live and die by Three Rules.
One, a Porter always keeps what’s his.
Two, a Porter leaves no enemy standing.
Three…

Greer’s been searching for love in all the wrong places. He wants kids … and lots of them, so it’s time to get busy and find the lucky woman to share his bed and his life. Though there isn’t a lot to choose from in the small town of Treepoint, he has managed to narrow his choices down to three.

The strange thing is, the one he’s falling in love with remains a mystery, hiding her face and name in the messages she sends from behind her computer. The mysterious woman may dodge his questions about her identity, but it’s only a matter of time before she finds out that this Porter brother won’t back away from something he wants, and he wants her.

Come hell or high water, he will find the one who goes by KentuckyGirl and make her his, despite what anyone says, even her. And KentuckyGirl is going to find out the last Porter rule the hard way: A Porter always stands his ground and leads his prey into his waiting arms…

You know, when I was first told the Porters were getting their own books, I was kind of worried for the people they got with. They were a bunch of... well, assholes.

But then a strange thing happened. I loved the first book in the trilogy. But Greer, Greer has always been one of those, why characters. I mean, the stuff he does... WHY????

Well, I wasn't sure where this book would go, I really didn't because let's face it, he's been an ass to.... Yep, not saying.

Anyway, the book took a whole other direction than I thought and I actually kind of fell in love with Greer.

Yes, you heard me.
I fell in love with him.

There's something about him in this book that makes you feel for him. I mean, he wants kids, loads of them and he wants to get married but he wants to get married to his Daisy... (Read to understand) and that is kind of romantic, especially for someone like Greer.

I really did enjoy the book.
I laughed, I got angry, and I cried... Okay, I freaking sobbed at one point but that's not the point.
This book was EVERYTHING!!!

I'll be reading this one again.

Fallen Crest Home (Fallen Crest Series #6) By Tijan

It’s been years since my mother was in my life.
I healed.
I learned to accept love.
I lived.
That’s all done. She was away, and now she’s back.
I avoided her for a year and a half, but I couldn’t hide anymore.
Mason had an internship in Fallen Crest, so we headed back for the summer.
And when we got there—no one was prepared for what happened.

First off, I can't believe this book is coming to an end. I could cry. I tried, and I mean, really tried to slow down whilst reading the book, wanting to savour it. But it didn't happen. I devoured it in one sitting.

I don't really need to go into the whole Fallen Crest background. If you haven't read the others in the series, you have seriously not lived. You are missing out immensely. There is no one like Logan and Mason Kade.

The only downfall I find with the book is Sam's constant whining. She's soooooo depressing. I am hoping in the last book we see a new Sam. One who is fun, smiling, full of laughter. Not someone who is filled with anxiety and negativity. Because she is. She is the most negative person I've ever read. She finds problems or causes them before they can even arise.
That said, you can't help but love her. She's been through so much and keeps being thrown another curve ball.

And this book isn't any different for Sam. Once again, something is threatening to take Mason away from her. He's become everything to her and you see it more in this book.
But what we also see, is Mason's feelings. He's always closed off in the other books. He doesn't say what he feels, and instead, shows it. So seeing that in this book made me love it even more.

But the cliffhanger....

OMG!!! That cliffhanger!!!

Tijan is one sneaky woman leaving it like that.

I'm just glad we don't have to wait long for the last book. It's out soon (at time of writing this review) and I will be one clicking straight away.

How to tame a beast in seven days (The Embraced) By Kerrelyn Sparks

From the brilliant imagination of Kerrelyn Sparks comes a bold new fantasy romance series in which passion and magic collide. Behold the Embraced...
As one of the Embraced—one born with magical powers—the beautiful, innocent Luciana escaped certain death after her father hid her away on the Isle of Moon. Now, nineteen years later, her father has returned with a frightening request. He will be executed unless Luciana returns to the mainland and marries a man feared throughout the land: a terrifying brute known as the Beast.
Luciana accepts her fate and agrees to wed the Beast—Lord Leo—in order to save her father. Soon she learns that her betrothed is also one of the Embraced. With the ability to wield lightning, Leo’s immense power strikes fear into the hearts of men. . .and his mere touch can put an end to a woman’s life. But Luciana cannot deny the passion that burns between them. How can she resist the man who scorches her soul and makes her feel intoxicated with desire—even if surrendering to him could destroy them both?

I didn't think I'd like this book, but I've been finding out more lately how much I enjoy different types of genres and time zones.

I got into this book straight away. The Scottish accent (I think, don't quote me) was a little off putting. It was hard to read, but it soon disappears once Luciana is off the island. The book seemed to flow much easier.

As an Embraced, Luciana has a gift of her own. She can see the dead. So haunted by her dead sister, who seems to be a little bitchy and spoiled, Lucianna has a lot to deal with when she moves. But it's not only that, she's also thrown into a whole new world.

Leo, I loved right away. I felt so sorry for him. He seemed to keep himself secluded, always worried he'd hurt those around him, but then he meets Luciana. He knows she's not who she says she is, but he doesn't care. He wants her anyway. He just wants to know her secret and has his good friend set out to find out. Another embraced (I think) Who can shift into a dog... amongst other things. He keeps close to Luciana, listening to everything whilst she's unaware of who he really is.

The connection between the two felt so real. They were perfect together. And the way he protected her... So romantic. Made me swoon. Hard.

But there's more to the story then someone who can control lightening, or absorbs lightening, and someone who can speak to the dead... There's an evil king who wants Luciana's fathers land and will do nothing but get his hands on it. Even kill Luciana like he did.... (You'll have to read)

There's so many twists and turns. The drama is unreal and had me turning the page. I just couldn't put it down. I wanted, no, needed to find out what would happen between the two.

I will be continuing this series. I'm desperate to find out how the story will go with other characters.

But let this book be a lesson to everyone. Do not judge a book by it's century. I was so wrong not to read this type of book before. I fully enjoyed it and it consumed me to the very last page.

Taming A Maverick (The Sterling Shore Series #1) By C.M.Owens

SALEM

Just some fun. Just one night of reckless, harmless, wild fun.

That's what I told myself the night I hooked up with quite possibly the sexiest guy I've ever known. Only, I didn't want to KNOW him. Life is a series of temporary situations, or so it's always been for me. A future revolves around the next move, but I'm still the type to live in the moment on a seldom occasion, consequences be damned.

Unless that moment happens to be unknowingly landing in bed with my brand new stepbrother. The universe is a mean, twisted jerk. And one consequence is that I have to be around him and get to know him. The worst consequence is the fact that Maverick Sterling, the infamous playboy who can't possibly be tamed, is really hard not to want more of once you've had a taste. So long as I'm not stupid enough to fall in love, it shouldn't be a big deal. Right?

MAVERICK

My life has been blissfully simple for a really long time. I have a routine. I have friends. I have family. Yet everyone seems to have less and less time, since they're all sort of trying to be adults or what the hell ever. I blame them for the fact the only girl to ever ditch me without a backward glance is suddenly under my skin. I blame my father for the fact she's a new fixture in my life. Not that I knew that before I got a little overly friendly with my new stepsister. I mean, what are the odds? It shouldn't have been possible.

But it happened. It figures the one girl I can't get out of my head is the one girl who doesn't want to be with me. At least in my head she's the only girl who doesn't want to be with me, because I tend to be arrogant like that. The point is, now she's everywhere I turn, yet she's marking a line in the sand that she thinks I really won't cross.

Obviously she doesn't know me at all.

And once again, CM Owen's amazes us with another novel.
I've always loved Maverick. He makes me laugh and his cat, Banana's, OMG!!!
But the cat has a side kick in this book in a form of a human. His new step-brother. Both are hilariously funny and kept me laughing throughout the book.

Salem is PERFECT for Maverick. Like, PERFECT!!!!! You couldn't have imagined a better character for him to be with. They bounced off each other and Maverick needed that. I think that's what tames him. Plus, he really doesn't like being alone. At all. And he doesn't know what he's missing until Salem walks out on him after a one night stand.
But then he finds out she's his new step-sister and instead of being put off, he actually wants her more.

But the two both have issues and Love is just a big one of them. But together, and okay, with Bananas and the brother, they do work it out.

Axels Brand (Death Chasers MC #3) By C.M.Owens

Fate is just a made-up word used to give us hope or absolution. We find hope when we believe bad things happen to us for a reason. We find absolution when we feel as though the wrongs of our past were just fate’s twisted design to bring us to our present, and all of it was out of our hands.

Of course, I sort of change my mind after meeting Axle. The man with scars and haunted, cold eyes. The man who only warms when he is around me. The first man I believe won’t cost me my life. The first man I’ve ever believed to actually be honorable, despite the fact he’s a ruthless criminal.

Only the craziest of fates could have put us in the paths of each other. More of a collision course, really.

Life gets complicated. Shit happens. And I sort of fall harder than I thought possible.

The first time we met, I was in my pajamas and cowering on the floorboard of his SUV, hiding from my very insane brother. Lovely first impression, I assure you.

The second time we met, I was literally skating around a bunch of corpses, because I’m slightly crazy like that. Long story.

Obviously my second impression had just as much impact as my first. Because he fell head-over-heels in love with me in that instant.

Kidding. That last part is complete bullshit. Axle is far more complicated than insta-love nonsense. Which is one of my favorite things about him.

Everything about us is perfectly complicated and wonderfully disastrous.

It’s what every girl dreams of…as long as they’re as crazy as I am.

And I’m just crazy enough to hold on, because I don’t mind being the psycho chick in roller skates, who is flipping fate the bird when it tries to intervene again. It’s just one of my quirks. Turns out, I’m Axle’s brand of crazy too.

Life should be really freaking interesting. Or catastrophic. Or psychopathic.

I guess it depends on how much madness you can embrace.

I swear to God, CM Owen's novels are getting funnier and funnier.
I couldn't breathe at one point because I was laughing that hard. I mean, who wouldn't when a girl in pig tails, short shorts, a candy top and skates, is roller skating around a bunch of dead bodies and pick-pocketing them....

But it's not just that, it's the way she acts, who she is and yeah, it's those skates that totally did me in. She reminded me of Harley Quinn but on skates. She was a complete nutter, but a funny, kind of sane one.

I would never have pictured her with Axel, but seeing him in this book made me fall in love with him more. He'd always been mysterious. I loved we got to see a different side to him.

I honestly can't wait to read more from this series, but then again, I'm waiting on new books in all her series. She's just that good of a writer.
Plus, this book had all the action and drama I needed in a book. I love the suspense and the thrill of waiting to see what happens.

Cheater (Curious Liaisons #1) By Rachel Van Dyken

Lucas Thorn wasn’t born a cheater. All it took was a single moment—say, a certain disastrous incident on the night before his wedding—and boom. Reputation destroyed forever and always. So now he owns it. He has a lady friend for every night of the week (except Sundays—God’s day and all), and his rules are simple: No commitments. No exceptions.
But a certain smart-mouthed, strawberry blonde vixen is about to blow that all to hell.
Avery Black has never forgiven Lucas for cheating on her sister. And suddenly being forced to work with him is pretty much a nightmare on steroids. Of course, it does afford her the opportunity to make his life as difficult as possible. But no good revenge scheme comes without payback. Because he didn’t become the Lucas Thorn without learning a few things about women.
Now Avery’s lust for vengeance has turned into, well, lust. And if Lucas stops cheating, it’s definitely not because he’s falling in love…

As always, Rachel delivers another fun, loving romance filled with laughter.
I couldn't put this book down.
Poor Lucas was in for a treat when it came to Avery Black and although there's more to their story, Avery is determined to keep her job and prove to her parents that she can make it.
She just doesn't mean to fall in love.
With her sisters ex.

And Lucas.
Poor Lucas.
He was accused of cheating and to even though evidence was pretty incriminating, he had no idea what he was doing, but to find out why, what and who, you'll have to read it.

#1 Crush By T. Gephart

Tia Monroe was smart, sassy and successful. Sure, she could get a little crazy at times—life around Tia was never boring—but that was part of her appeal. And while she didn’t see herself as ‘classically beautiful’, she had no shortage of options in the boyfriend department. She just hadn’t found one who held her interest.

Until she laid eyes on Eric Larsson, and then it was lust at first sight.

He packed the perfect mix of smoldering sexy and unapologetic cool into his blond-haired, blue-eyed, ridiculously hot six-foot-four frame. One smile from him was enough to twist her insides, making her girlie bits tingle in the most delicious way. But it wasn’t just his looks, he was smart and funny—charming in the most a-dork-able way.

The only problem was . . . Tia had never actually met him.

Eric Larsson was one of Hollywood’s hottest movie stars, rising to the top of his game and leaving a trail of disintegrated panties in his wake. Tia’s were no exception—but she wasn’t delusional. Love, marriage and happily-ever-after were not part of her fantasy; she just wanted to meet him. Just one time. One time. Confident that just seeing him in the flesh would get him out of her system.

So, with her resolve steeled, Tia set off on a quest to make it happen while avoiding her mug shot being splayed across the five o’clock news.

The journey no doubt will make for one hell of a story.

Who's your number 1 crush??? Mines between Taylor Lautner and Jon Snow from Game of Thrones. Hell, I have so many celeb crushes, I could fill a diary.

And I'm guessing I'm not the only one who has imagined meeting their #1 crush. Because come on... Who wouldn't want to randomly bump into their celeb crush and fall helplessly in love with them?

Well, Tia, she does what most can't and goes out of her way to see her celeb crush. She only plans to see him, to see if he has any flaws, but her plan goes to hell when he NOTICES her. And I don't mean in a stalkerish kind of way, but in a... Do you want to go get a burger? way.

It's a fun, light read, although I did feel kind of sorry for Tia at the end. She couldn't find a way to tell Eric how she actually met him and why, but to be fair, he did pursue her, even if she did go out of her way to meet him.

But all in all, the book is great and made me laugh.

The Silver Swan By Amo Jones

Madison Montgomery comes from money and power, but when someone close to her commits the ultimate crime, Madison must live with her tainted name for the rest of her life. When she begins Riverside Preparatory Academy, the private school her father has swept her into in The Hamptons, she hopes for a fresh start. What she wasn't hoping for was the pack of bad boys who run the school; ten, to be exact. When Madison gains the attention of their leader, Bishop Vincent Hayes, a whole new world that she didn't think existed is exposed to her. A whole world that starts and ends with The Elite Kings Club and these boys, are about to flip her world upside down. Secrets are overflowing and family lies are about to be exposed. Is there more to Madison Montgomery than even she knows?

I can't believe it's taken me until now to review this book.
I do have an excuse.
First, my computer broke.
Then my blog was down and wouldn't let me post anything.
Then my wifi got hacked and had a virus on.
And then... My computer blooming broke, again, twice...

So here I am, catching up on reviews.

BUT THIS BOOK!!! I'll never forget it.
Even Charlotte (My Book Whore) couldn't put it down once I recommended it to her. She said it had her completely hooked and by the time we were finished, we had our own theories. For some reason, we can see this book going in a paranormal direction even though there isn't anything to say that it is. It's just a feeling.

Silver Swan gave me all the feels.
It kind of reminded me a little of Rachel Van Dyken's Elite Series, Tijan's, Fallen Crest and The Royals series.

I'm not going to give anything away, but know, this book is brilliant. Book two is releasing soon and I CANNOT wait for it to be released.

My only hang up was Madison's reaction to the boys in the book. I think she kissed everyone of them, even one's that had been an asshole to her. Well, they all were, but not as bad as some.
She seemed kind of naive. I hope in book two we get to see a backbone on her.

LOVED IT!!

Midnight Soul (Fantasyland series #5) By Kristen Ashley

Against his will, Noctorno Hawthorne, an undercover vice cop, finds himself embroiled in magic, mayhem and parallel universes. Too late, he meets an amazing woman only to find she’s destined for his identical twin in another world.

And things aren’t going real great there.

Noc is recruited to help save that world.

What he doesn’t know is his destined love resides there.

Franka Drakkar wears a mask. A mask she never takes off to protect herself in a world of malice, intrigue and danger.

When Franka meets Noc and he discovers her secrets, convinced she carries a midnight soul, having shielded herself from forming bonds with anyone, she struggles with accepting his tenderness and care.

When Noc meets Franka, over wine and whiskey, her mask slips and Noc knows it’s her—only her—and he has to find a way to get her to come home with him.

And then make her want to stay.

Franka redeems herself in the other book. Not many like her and as a character, she really is unlikable.
But she has her reasons as to why she shuts people out and became the snake people know her to be.
The mask she wears is what people see, and all they believe.
But then Noc, the Noctorno of the other world sees her for who she really is and saves her from years of torture, other people start to see it.

Her character was actually really nice. She just wants love and to be loved in return, but she still finds all the caring and sharing, uncomfortable.

Now, as much as I loved the Franka, and I adored Noc from the other series, I never actually got to finish this book. It kind of dragged to the point I got bored. I couldn't go on. I forced myself for 6 chapters to keep on reading but I felt like the book wasn't going anywhere.
It could be because I read them one after the other, but for some reason, this one didn't hold the same attention as the others and I actually wanted Noc to get a book of his own.

:(

NO RATING AS IT WOULDN'T FAIR SINCE I DIDN'T FINISH IT!!!

Broken Dove (Fantasyland #4) By Kristen Ashley

Far too young, Apollo Ulfr lost Ilsa, his wife, the love of his life and the mother of his two children. The grief of her loss does not settle in his soul, it solders to it. But when he discovers there is a parallel universe where his wife may have a twin, he feels there's hope and sets about bringing her to his world so he can have her back.
But Ilsa Ulfr of our world is married to the parallel universe's twin, Pol, who is not a good man. Not in any way. She's on the run from him and the last thing she wants is to be transported to a fantastical world and be forced to take his side as his wife, even if he is not Pol. And Apollo finds the broken Ilsa nothing like his beloved, and further, wants nothing to do with her.
But darkness is looming and evil is amassing. Apollo must protect his land and keep his family safe, including the new Ilsa.

Ahhh, the things we do for love.

But Apollo, he goes a little too far. However, it's a bit of a good job he does because the Ilsa who is alive in the real world, the love of his life, is actually in danger from the other Apollo, who is a drug lord or something and abusive.

But he rescues Ilsa, who he leaves to deal with the new change. She's accompanied by his best men who she becomes very close with. But when the time comes to be with Apollo, she struggles on what to do.
She knows he isn't her ex husband, and she knows he'd never hurt her physically, but emotionally, she isn't sure.
She's also reminded every day of who she is to Apollo, and I think sometimes, she finds it hard to put her and his dead wife in two different categories.

I loved Apollo. I liked him in the first book of the series and we only had a glimpse of him. But sometimes, he could be a real jerk.
But you couldn't fault his love for Ilsa, who actually adopts a new name on her travels with Apollo's men.

I also loved the ending of this book. So many surprises as all of the previous characters come together. It was worth the wait to read this one, to see an end as such as to why these four women were brought to this world to find their other halfs.

Fantastical (Fantasyland Series #3) By Kristen Ashley

Cora Goode has woken up in a fairytale world where she can understand what birds are saying to her, men ride horses and have fluffy feathers in their hats and furniture zigs, zags and whirls in miracles of construction.

The problem is, she thinks she’s in a dream but she’s actually taken the place of the parallel universe Cora and without realizing it, our Cora does something that starts a centuries old curse that will sweep the land if she gets captured by the evil Minerva.

At this point, her dream world becomes a nightmare.

Luckily, hot guy, fantasyland Noctorno is there to save her from the clutches of the grotesque vickrants sent by Minerva to capture her. Unfortunately, hot guy, fantasyland Noctorno doesn’t like the Cora of his world all that much (to say the least) and he thinks our Cora is her. And no matter what our Cora says or does to try to convince him, he won’t be convinced.

But Cora needs Tor to keep her safe and guide her through this fantastical world as she hopes one day to wake up in her not-so-great apartment in her not-so-great life in her world. The problem is, the more time she spends with the gorgeous warrior Tor, the faster she falls in love with him.

Okay, this one I found the most interesting.
I've always wondered what people considered bad luck when the bride sees the groom before the wedding, but this... This is something else.

I loved Cora and Noctorno. He's HOT!!! But the other Cora, the one who swapped places with Cora, is a BITCH!!! And that's putting it mildly. She doesn't get a long with Noctorno, even though they are married. YES!!! MARRIED.
They don't even live together.
So when Cora, the one from the real world starts the new curse, thinking she's actually in a dream, Noctorno is furious. More so than he normally is.

And although he sees a change in Cora, he doesn't believe her story about being from another world. But he goes along with it, liking the act he seems to think she's putting on.
It actually hurt to see Cora being used the way she is by him, but it does all work out in the end.
Until...

The evil queen switches the two back...
Dum, dum, dummmmmm!!

Circe and Lahn are separated by language, culture and the small fact she’s from a parallel universe and has no idea how she got there or how to get home. But facing challenge after challenge, Circe finds her footing as Queen of the brutal Korwahk Horde and wife to its King, then she makes friends then she finds herself falling in love with this primitive land, its people and especially their savage leader.

Okay, I thought the first book in the series was good, but this one was REALLY good. I mean, really good.
The two main characters kind of reminded me of Daenery's Targaryen and Khal Drogo from GOT.
The beginning was a bit much to read since he actually rapes Circe when he wins her.
But it changes through the book. I know I should hate him, but I just couldn't. He was incredibly sweet to her in the end. he'd do anything for her.
Even though he couldn't speak english, he does learn some of the words. It was cute with the way he reacted to her.

I also loved how Circe, after everything she'd be thrown into, got used to the way of living. It was like she made for it.

I couldn't put this one down. I enjoyed it so much and after talking to a few fellow Lisa's Book Review followers over on FB, so did they.

I've read all of the books in the series now, but this one, is by far, my favourite.

5*
