Beneath Him By Komal Kant

Sometimes love can start with a little hate.

When Sky Hudson first has a run-in with tall, dark, and handsome Nicholas Ruggarson, she wants nothing more than to throw her coffee at him. He is rude and arrogant, and she is glad she never has to set eyes on him ever again.

Or so she thinks.

It turns out, not only does she have to see Nick again, she also has to live with him. Hired as the new nanny to work for Nick’s affluent family, she can’t seem to get away from the womanizing jerk.

With a hot and cold relationship, and an undeniable attraction between them, Sky might finally be the woman to break through Nick’s arrogance and discover that there is more to him than she ever imagined.

If she doesn’t kill him first.

Beneath him had me captured at the blurb.I came across it looking through a bunch of recommendations Amazon left me.
At first, I thought I could really enjoy the book, but the more I read the more I got kind of bored and just wanted it to end in a way. I don't think the story was for me at all. The blurb came across so interesting and something I'd read, but I didn't feel anything reading the novel to make me want to love it. I didn't feel the connection between the two characters, I didn't really feel the anger either. I understood why he frustrated her, he was a complete jerk to her.

I had also guessed the story early on. It was a long shot at guessing, but I guessed right. The clues weren't obvious to the reader, but as you read on I knew my assumptions were right. I'm not going to tell you what because it's the major plot in the story. I will say I don't know how any one could do that. I really don't. But then that's me and this is a fictional book LOL.

The writing was beautiful although I wish it had more emotion to it. I need that in a book to really connect to characters like Nick and Skye. They were so different from each other. They were supposed to have formed this bond through cooking, sleeping together (not sex, get your mind out the gutter) and going out for meals with Nick's friends, but I never felt any of that. I felt like there was too much hostility between the two.

  • Unfamiliar ~Hailey Peters has always held onto the familiar. From the way she wears her hair, to dating her childhood friend-turned high school sweetheart--she sticks with what she knows, and she’s convinced herself that this is what makes her happy.
Chase Lancaster doesn’t play by the rules. He’s a classically trained pianist who rocks out in a punk rock band every weekend, and isn’t afraid of taking chances.
When they are assigned to co-write a song for their college music class, Hailey can’t imagine anyone she has anything less in common with than Chase. She is a sweater-wearing, neat freak, and he is disheveled and rough around the edges. As they spend time together, they both find a place in each other’s lives—a place where they challenge each other to be different and to embrace the unfamiliar.
Hailey never planned for a Chase Lancaster in her life, and she is about to find out that this walking contradiction will change her forever.
  • Echos of Melody ~ This is not one of those conventional love stories.
It’s not one where the guy has a six-pack and all the girls drool over him and want to have his babies.
I know this because I’m the guy and I’m pretty unimpressive as far as guys go. I don’t even have a one-pack.
This isn’t a story where the girl is a perfect female specimen who blushes and bites her lip and wants to make your life better.
Nope. The girl is pretty freaking messed up. Also, she has an unhealthy attachment to a pink umbrella.
But look who’s talking. I’m just as messed up as she is.
Together, we make one screwed up couple. We’re trying to help each other through our various issues, but most of the time we just end up arguing or making out.
I told you we were screwed up.
To be honest, I’ll be lucky if I don’t kill her by the time I’m done telling you this story

Estella Markson is a good girl. She studies hard, stays out of trouble, and is struggling to hold together her family that is falling apart because of her alcoholic father.

Vincent Madden is the guy your mother warned you to stay away from. He doesn’t follow the rules, is in a notorious motorcycle gang, and doesn’t care if he breaks the law or someone’s bones.

After a chance encounter, Vincent starts to take an interest in the innocent girl who is so different to him. Despite Vincent’s infamous reputation, Estella is also intrigued by him. There is something about this bad boy that gives her an escape from her world of problems, and she can’t stay away.
