An Act Of Courage (Acts of Honor Book Four) By KC Lynn

She’s the light from his past.

He’s the one her heart has always longed for.

Trained by the best, Christopher Walker has fought hard for his country and even harder to forget the only girl he’s ever loved. He spent countless nights submerged in death and destruction only to find himself clinging to the memories of her when the darkness crept in.

When her life is threatened, Christopher will stop at nothing to protect her. Even if it means having to confront his past.

Alissa Malone never thought she would find herself face-to-face again with the only boy she’s ever loved. But she soon realizes Christopher is not the same man he once was.

His touch is still electrifying—his voice still earth shattering. But there’s a darkness about him that wasn’t there before. A pain he harbors so deep that she can feel it all the way to her soul.

One fateful moment destroyed his very existence, and only one person will be able to make him realize that what he considers an act of dishonor was truly an act of courage.

Holy sugar....

KC Lynn seriously knows how to blow you away.

Christopher and Alyssa have always been two of my favourite characters. I'd been routing for them from the beginning and I was so happy when we were told they were getting a story.

KC blows your mind right from the beginning, and your HOOKED. Like, seriously hooked. There's no looking away, no stopping and definitely no taking any breaks. It will have you that hooked.

I don't want to give too much away of the story. It's one of those ones where you need to go in blind, no reading the blurb, no reading other reviews. It's one you have to take in yourself. But know, it's sooooooo good.
I would recommend reading the other books in the series even though this can be read as a standalone novel.

I've never known an author with such a beautiful soul, but KC Lynn not only proves it as a person, but through her books too. How she sees the world, the fallen, the damaged, it's beautiful.
But there's one part in the book (And you'll know which part once you've read it) that will have you completely choked up. I couldn't even breathe, my throat hurt, my eyes stung and by the end of it, I broke. Literally. I couldn't stop crying.
It was such a painful but beautiful moment in the book, but it will forever stay with me. It shows even the strongest can be weak.

I'm giving this book a 5*, even though I'd love to give it a lot more. It deserves it and I'm so proud to say it's reached BEST SELLERS already. That's epic and well deserved.

Deadly Silence (Blood Brothers #1) By Rebecca Zanetti

Paralegal Zara Remington is in over her head. Helping out a friend has put not only her job but her life in jeopardy. Zara needs help from someone she can trust - she just doesn't expect it to be the mysterious PI who recently appeared in her life.
Ryker Jones has problems of his own, including recovering from his investigative agency's recent brutal loss of a client. He wants to keep Zara at arm's length - and protect her from the reality of what he's running from.
But when danger arrives on Zara's doorstep, Ryker can't walk away. He might be the only one who can save her - if his deadly past doesn't catch up with them first...

Gah, are you a fan of the Sins Brothers???
Well, this is a prequel.
I didn't even know about this book until the other day and I HAD to ONE CLICK it as soon as I was told.
I always wondered if there was going to be another Sins brother novel, because come on, it ended on such a high note, we needed to know what was going to happen with Doctor Madison.

Well, meet Ryker, one of Madison's very own creations. Only, he thinks he's normal and just has heightened senses that he never really questioned until a young boy (I shall not name) (Which is killing me) turns up on his doorstep demanding he find Doctor Madison.
Now, he and his two brothers are in search and in there search, they put themselves in danger.

Zara, a paralegal has a 'casual thing' going on with Ryker, but when he turns up, seeing the bruise on her cheek, he moves things forward.
He wants more with Zara, something he's never wanted with anyone else, but with danger following not only Zara, but himself, can he keep her and (Mystery boy) safe???

These brothers are just as hot and mysterious as the Gray Brothers. But what the Gray's lack human wise, these boys have had it different. They know all about family, connections and the hard life that being in the outside world brings. Only, they share the same connection with the Gray brothers. They haven't felt softness or love from anyone but their brothers. All three Jones brothers were in the same boys home, one where they were beaten and mistreated and experimented on my Madison.

And my God the ending... We get to see some of our old favorite characters and I'm still in love LOL

This series is so much different to what I normally read and I love that about it. It's unexpected, different and so thrilling it will keep you turning the page until you finish.

I can't wait to read more from this series. I really can't.

Soldier Mine By Lizzy Ford

A wounded war hero afraid to risk his heart …
A waitress with a troubled past.

Petr’s life changed overnight when an ambush not only killed his twin, but left him wounded beyond repair as well. A year and a half later, he has built a new life but still struggles with the fear he didn’t deserve to be saved and purposely won’t risk having his heart broken again.

Until he meets Claudia, the sister of a troubled boy Petr meets during a recruitment trip to a local school. Claudia has her own demon in the form of an abusive ex-boyfriend who won’t stop stalking her. She’s weary of starting over in a new place every other month and working to make ends meet to support her younger brother, who she fears is going to take matters into his own hands soon by confronting the man chasing them.

Can a man who views himself as broken, and a woman unable to trust, help each other heal?

This is the first Lizzy Ford book I have read.
Soldier mine came up on my recommended list on Amazon and as the reviews seemed to look okay I gave it ago.
When I downloaded the sample I never expected to buy the book. I had a hard time reading it with her writing, and even picked up on a few minor errors. Sometimes I even had to re-read a sentence just to make sure I understood it. I also didn't like the way the Petr's character came across when he spoke. He sounded condescending, sometimes posh. He called people civilians in a way that made them sound like they were a whole new species. Then there was the way he's portrayed in the blurb, a grieving brother, but in the book he's actually on good terms with his brothers death. I didn't feel it weighed on him.

I couldn't help but love the story line of it all though. It's what had me downloading the book and finishing it.
There were times I wished more happened, but it never.
As it says in the blurb Claudia is running from her own past. I was expecting her to be more timid, more scared, or something, but she was actually a really strong character. I loved how she was with her brother and with Petr.

The ending was really good, but I wish there was an epilogue for further down the line. One where it tells us if they reconnect with their mother apart from calling everyday. I mean, wouldn't their mother want her kids back? Especially her son who is still in school?

Then there was the whole thing about her ex. If the police were after him and they knew he was bad and she was in trouble then why didn't they protect her. It's not as if she didn't go to the police because according to the book it's how she got away each time. They'd arrest him, keep him for 30 days then he'd be released again.
