This novel was romantic, full of humor and very, very sexy. 

I love Ginger's loyalty towards her sister and the fact she went as far as she did to protect her from the path their mother was leading them down. 

Having grown up the hard way Ginger new nothing would change unless she changed it, so she did. 

 Stealing money from her mother, not knowing how she had come to have such a large amount, got her sister and took of in the middle of the night. 

Then they move in across from the one and only hot Derek. Who is also a Lieutenant. An extremely hot one at that. 

Ginger is a lovable character from the start, funny, protective, and afraid to fall in love. So when she meets Derek she does what she has done her whole life, uses her body to try intimidate him, only he turns the tables and ends up making her want him. Ginger is used to men wanting her but she has never wanted one back. 

 She was funny and feisty and had me giggling a few times with the stuff she thought of .... 

“Backward hat Matt. Kind of a rat. Since we've been chatting your beer has gone flat.” 

I always love it when a book is funny but its much better when the characters are funny too, it makes the book much more fun to read.

Lets get onto the hot stuff .... Lieutenant Derek has a very hot side to him and doesn't mind to speak his mind and who doesn't love a dirty alpha male talking dirty to you !!!.......

“Listen to me, baby. From the time we walk in the door to my apartment, you will have less than a minute before I put my cock inside you. No foreplay. No kissing. There won’t be any time, because you’ve got me strung so damn tight I can barely think straight. I need you to keep yourself wet for me on the ride home. Starting now.” 

What surprised the most was how extremely comfortable Ginger is with her body and how she responded to Derek then the night he says these words to her she can only reply with '' Don't let my sister hear us''. Not informing him till hes buried deep inside her she was a virgin. She forgot to mention that part. Although whip makes it known her sister doesn't date and has had bad experience in the past, the Ginger we get to know doesn't come across someone who has no sexual experience. Was a shock.
 As the sparks fly between the couple, Ginger finally comes forward about her past not knowing Derek already knows. Only half way through her telling him they get distracted and she doesn't get to the most important part. Even though Derek already knows about the money too. 
So when trouble back home takes a turn for the worst and Ginger clueless to what is happening, she decides to return the money back to her mother not realizing the danger she is putting herself in. 

I loved this book and wish i had read it before now. It has been on my sample kindle for a few weeks now but another book has always jumped the queue, leaving Protecting what his to sit there. 

Hope you all enjoy this novel and at only £1.25 definitely a book bargain.
