Graduating high school was Maddy Carrington's chance to leave her abusive childhood behind. When she discovers her father is a murderer, her chance of getting out of Georgia alive comes from a nineteen-year-old war veteran with deadly secrets that may cost both their lives.
Jackson thought the worst of his battles were over. Returning from a year-long tour in Afghanistan, he planned to relax and eat his way through every restaurant in Savannah. That is, until he makes a deal with the South's most notorious crime boss, Cordell Carrington.
They want to tell you their story with one stipulation: absolute confidentiality.

Read on for my review ...
Bottom feeder is a dark read in place's. Violence, assault's and even pure evil from few characters.
Either way the book was bloody brilliant. The detail in the novel was incredible, down too the army's in sight, to their trouble dealing coming out of an assignment.
pretty much read this novel in one sitting and enjoyed every part of it.
Maddy is such a strong character and truly and inspiration. What she is called around her is un-called for and undeserved.
My rant is now going to be about Jackson. Seriously i loved him at times, he had morals, he had respect and obviously good to his mother.
Then he f**k's it up by being a complete jerk towards Maddy for know reason what so ever. The comments about her not being his type, she's too fat etc. What the hell?? I was so angry at some of his choice of words whether he was in denial or not. The fact Maddy took it all without even a flinch must have been hard.
Then the incident when she has no choice to stay over at his base. His out-burst was outrageously disappointing. To make it worst he goes and delivers the worst news she could have gets thrown at her in a malicious, vile and evil way. He was so out of order i found myself wanting to scream at my kindle. How the hell can he go from drinking himself stupid -which was his choice- to blaming the girl who looked after him all night. Then for the fact he agreed knowingly he was getting himself into some serious shit accepting money and a car to take her to new york, to that being her fault, when again his choice.
I felt the book dragged a little at the end but i think i only felt that because i really wanted to know what was happening. was she safe? did they arrest her father? what was that text to Jackson about ? is his mother safe? so help me god i will be counting down the days until the next release.
The ending gave you no answer leaving you no choice but to want to read the next novel, which i will be doing.
4*
