I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Let me start by saying, every time I read a book by KC, I always grow attached to the characters. This book was no different but this time it was more because I felt connected to Sam- having gone through the same as her.
I always find her writing meaningful, full of laughter, pain, heartache and love. It's a book filled with a mixture of emotions, emotions that will have you feeling throughout the book and leaving you with something that will stay with you forever. It's rare to find a writer who can do this. A story is a story, it gives you an escape, a place to exist where real life is no concern, but when you take in the words of a book like this, and all of her other books, it means something. It touches you in a way that you'll never forget.
I really can't give KC Lynn enough praise, I really can't. I see big for this author. She's a lovely woman and every time I read a book of hers, I swear, you see pieces of her inside them. Its her. The love and devotion she puts into each word... It's inspiring.
Anyway... You want to hear how great the book is and it's freaking spectacular. Sammy is Sawyer, a character from her men of honor series, sister. She's such a lovable, enticing character with a big heart. I think it's why she reminded me a lot of KC to be honest. From her posts I follow on FB, she's family oriented, devoted to her husband and has strong, heartwarming beliefs. Which is exactly how Sammy, the main female heroin is in Sweet Haven.
Jase, a sexy fire fighter/ Sawyer's enemy since school is hot as hell. Everything from his dirty talk to his macho ways. He's hot. I'm rooting for the men at his fire department get a series of their own. I swear, KC has a way of making you want to know each and everyone of her characters. They're all so lovable.
Anyway, the two don't have a best start because her brother and Jase are enemies. Have been for a while. But without her family, Sammy is alone, she's missing them and is hiding a huge secret from them too.
Abused by her ex and cheated on, she wants to move forward and has decided to move to where her brother and now her mom and dad live. She has three months left until she moves, but then Jase comes in and gives her everything she's been dreaming of and wanting.
He helps her out when her ex hits her, stepping in and taking care of her. And although I would have liked to have seen more of a situation with the ex and Sammy, and Jase saving the day, I still enjoyed the book. I couldn't put it down.
The two have a lot to overcome. Not only because her family won't accept him, but because she's moving. And to find out, make sure you grab a copy. It's a story you will want to read again, which I'm sure I'll be getting down to again. This series and her men of honor series are books I can devour over and over.
We also get to see Sawyer, Grace's and their kids, who may I add, are freaking adorable. There's something said between dad and daughter and it melts my heart. I couldn't wipe the smile off my face.
5 amazing *
