Ruined: A she who dares standalone novel By L.P.Lovell

Hugo

I like to fuck. A lot. Anywhere, anyway, as long as I’m shooting my load in or on some pretty young thing I’m good. In fact, scrap that, they don’t even have to be pretty. What can I say? I’m an equal opportunities kind of guy.
I pride myself on being able to turn even the most self-respecting woman into a dirty slut. I make no apologies for my life or my behaviour. I don’t care about anyone really, certainly not women.
Except her. I care about her, which is why I pushed her away.

Molly

I suppose I’m what you would call the good girl, the sensible one. I’m that girl, the romanticist. I believe in ‘the one’, in that all-encompassing love that leaves you unable to breathe without it.
The thing is though, love is an uncontrollable animal. The heart often declares war on the mind, and even the most rational being can become completely consumed by love.

Sometimes rational is boring. It’s the taste of the wild side that makes you remember you’re alive.

The heart wants what the heart wants, even if you end up completely ruined in the process.

I received ruined as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

When I started the book I knew straight away I was missing a whole other chapter on the characters. I felt like I was missing so much because they already had a relationship previously.
So I stopped reading to look up the book to find they were character from another series. I read book one of the book I didn't find they were mentioned that much. A friend of mine had read all three of the She who dares series and loved them, but also confirmed the characters aren't mentioned that much. I think L.P.Lovell should have expanding on their relationship a little more.

Anyway, Hugo is a manwhore, and when I mean manwhore I mean he pays for prostitutes, the guy has no morals, or even care he could catch aids or anything going bareback. Seriously? With someone who fucks for a living....
It's why I couldn't get into the story. There just weren't any good quality's about him that I could like. Yeah, he was off the charts funny, but he was also a p.r.i.c.k. And I mean that heatedly. He says in one part that he fucks fat girl because they try harder. This just set me off and I immediately disliked him. I've heard lads say this about many girls in my time and I find it offensive. Have they ever thought that big girls are just better at sex because they don't need to lie there and look pretty???? I guess I found all the comments about big women offensive.

Then we have Molly, Molly who seems to have her head on her shoulders. In the first book, Besieged, she was really dorky, getting all tongue tied and sputtering in front of Theo and Hugo, but in this book she's a total new character. She's all fuck this, fuck that, and all flirty and dirty when it comes to Hugo. NEVER GOT HER AT ALL.
I also couldn't reason as to why she would LOVE him. For fuck sake, the guy goes bareback with a prostitute for heavens sake. He needs it chopped off LOL

All in all, although I didn't get the LOVE part of the story, with either men in her life, I still found parts rather amusing. Like the dog Hugo owns, those parts had me crying.
There is also a part at the beginning when he's court getting a blow job by two police offers and asks them to wait a minute so he can finish. THAT had me literally crying with laughter. I honestly would have liked him if he had an redeemable quality's about him, but there were none. Yeah he was funny, but other than that, he was pretty much an ass.

Besieged (She who dares #1) By L.P. Lovell

Theodore Ellis. Men want to be him, and women want to be underneath him. He’s the entrepreneurial bad boy, the tabloids darling, and as infamous in the bedroom as he is in the boardroom. Theo Ellis is the moral free man whore, that women can’t even bring themselves to feel ashamed over

Lilly Parker. Everything about her screams sex. She’s beautiful, strong, intelligent and independent. She’s the career driven, man-eater, who can make a grown man feel like a sixteen year old boy.
What happens when a player meets his match? This is alpha versus alpha, as two major players make and break the rules.
The game will change, and lines will blur.
This is war. Hearts will become dangerously Besieged, and walls will be battered to the ground.
Love is a war. She who dares…wins

I started ruined before reading this one, not realizing that when I received it as an ARC that it was a part of a series. So before I right THAT review, I thought I'd start with this one.

Theo, Theo, Theo, where do I start? I fell in love with him straight from the bat, he was charming, sexy and I loved the way he treated Lilly.
Now Lilly on the other hand I found could be quite juvenile. She's a stubborn character with a dark past from what I can tell. There was much to her story that we didn't know and I'm not sure it explained certain parts clear enough to get a grip on the situation.

The story line as a whole, I missed what the story was getting at. The cliffhanger for me wasn't surprising and I saw it coming, so it didn't make me go 'ohhhhh, I want to read the next one'. I will say the book is funny and certain characters are seriously funny. I can see why people have fell in love with the series.

It needed a major proofreading done to it, but I looked passed those, but looking at other reviews I can see that some people couldn't.
I'm not sure if I'll read the next to or not, but I may some time in the future. We will have to see.
