Surge By Sloan Storm

Dyson Vix. The bad boy of Formula One Racing.

The first time I met him he was completely naked, and he couldn’t have cared less.

The second time I saw Dyson, he just stood there, staring at me. His fire suit hung low on his waist, and his body was dripping in sweat, grease and… well, you get the idea.

The ultimate playboy, there isn’t a hairpin turn he can’t handle or a woman he can’t have. Dyson lives life like he drives – hard, determined, and like it might be his last day.

We couldn’t have been more different. After a family tragedy, I’ve been left to raise my nephew, Simon, all alone. Raising him has given me more joy than I could’ve imagined, but it came at a price. He is my entire world, and everything I do is with him in mind. I haven’t had a date in months, instead focusing solely on him. Man troubles are the last thing we need, especially the kind reckless thrill seeker Dyson Vix would bring.

But fate has other ideas.

I’ve been thrust into his fast-paced world, and the more time I spend with him -- the more I see of the troubled man behind the roguish charm -- the more my resolve crumbles. Our chemistry is undeniable but isn’t without risk. Jealousy and threats to my home life mean I could lose everything I’ve worked so hard to protect.

The stakes have never been higher.

Will we make it, or are we destined to crash and burn?

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Like the blurb says, after a family tragedy, she's left raising her nephew, a now seven year old boy in her care.
She loves him wholeheartedly, but I found after the first time she leaves him to go to work, she has no problem leaving him, even though everything she does is for him. I guess I didn't really like him NOT been in the book when a child is supposed to be the centre of your universe. I should know. I'm a mom.

Ava, after giving the gorgeous Dyson a medical check has to see him again to take back the results.
When she's offered a job with them for a generous amount of money she takes it.
I will admit I didn't feel the chemistry as such beyond sexual. I have to admit that there. Where love came into I don't know or where Dyson's moods stemmed from. There was no reason for him to be the way he was. He hadn't suffered anything to make it that way. It made it hard to wrap my head around the way he was thinking.

The blackmailing part got me interested, and so did the two russian girls, Dyson is caught having sex with. But nothing ever really seemed to happen. It kind of let the story down for me.

This is the first time reading this authors work, and although parts of the story weren't IT for me, I will be reading more of her work. She's a very talented writer and should be proud of this book.

Hard to Break By Bella Jewel

Quinn has spent her whole life working in her dad's garage, leaving her more comfortable with a carburetor than a curling iron. Her world is turned upside down when her beloved garage is bought by none other than world famous, sexy as sin, custom car builder, Tazen Watts. He's the one man she can't stand...even though he makes her hotter than a high performance engine in top gear.
Tazen has no use for Quinn, at least not professionally, and he's making sure she knows it. But there's a spark between them that she's finding hard to ignore. She's determined to prove her talent is as impressive as her sassy mouth. When she finds out Tazen is hiding a secret that could bring down his career and everyone involved in it, she wonders: is falling for him is going to be worth the risk?

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Quinn hasn't had a good life. She's had a hard life. And when things with her dad get worse, she finds out she's going to lose her garage in thirty days if she doesn't come up with the arrears. And not only will she lose it, but she will lose it to her idol, a person she has become to love and hate.

The story is emotional, and with the garage taken from Quinn, everything she's so desperately trying to cling to is falling from her grasp. She's tried her hardest for so long to keep everything together.... but what happens when all that explodes?

Quinn and Tazen relationship isn't easy, and I still found it hard he didn't give her it back after they were in love, or some of it back in a way. It killed me knowing she lost that part of herself.
They have a rocky relationship but Quinn isn't one of those girls to be pushed over. Not only does she have to fight to prove her worth beneath a car, but also fight for someone else in her life, someone slowly ripping from her grip.

I love her and Jace's banter, and her and Tazen's sexual chemistry, the two are explosive together and in more ways than on top of a hood.

I will admit I did feel the book lacked something other Bella Jewel books had. I found the situation with Tazen's ex could have become more heated.... I don't know, something.

But either way that didn't stop me from reading. In fact, I read it in one sitting and loved every minute of it.

My Clarity By M. Clarke

Still reeling from the death of her father, Alexandria hopes to find both independence and reprieve from her grief by heading off to college. However, life throws her a serious curveball when she discovers that her roommate isn't quite the person she had imagined.

Smoking, tattoos, and street racing for fast cash are Elijah's only interests. A harsh life has made him apathetic and indifferent, until Alexandria enters his life. When their paths cross, turmoil abounds.

An inevitable encounter, an undeniable attraction, and an unexpected chance at love-will it be enough?

The blurb doesn't do this book justice. Seriously.

Alex is such a delightful character and, well, Elijah, who by the way has an awesome name is my new favorite book boyfriend.
Not only is he hot, funny, sexy as hell, but he also races. This is the first novel i've read with racing in it so i'm so glad I came across this book. I have a thing for cars ;)

Even I was confused when she was looking for Ellie, as the blurb kind of gave that away. Her reaction was priceless when she finds out the hot Elijah is her new room mate.
The chemistry between the two was electrifying. There was so much tension and angst between the two that I was finally glad when things started steaming up between them.

Neither give in on their attraction to each other, which made the book so realistic. I liked how the author wrote about the little things that got each others attention. Like trying to walk past each other but going the same way, walking into the bathroom together. Things like that. It made the book seem more real for me.

The only downfall was waiting for Alex to dump Liam's ass. I hated him from the beginning and never understood her need to try with him.

Cannot wait to read more from this author :)
