Left Drowning By Jessica Park

Weighted down by the loss of her parents, Blythe McGuire struggles to keep her head above water as she trudges through her last year at Matthews College. Then a chance meeting sends Blythe crashing into something she doesn’t expect—an undeniable attraction to a dark-haired senior named Chris Shepherd, whose past may be even more complicated than her own. As their relationship deepens, Chris pulls Blythe out of the stupor she’s been in since the night a fire took half her family. She begins to heal, and even, haltingly, to love this guy who helps her find new paths to pleasure and self-discovery. But as Blythe moves into calmer waters, she realizes Chris is the one still strangled by his family’s traumatic history. As dark currents threaten to pull him under, Blythe may be the only person who can keep him from drowning.
Read on for my review ....

I was so unsure of this novel. I had a love hate relationship with it. Seriously the book had me so frustrated, i felt like i just wanted to give up. Then on the other hand i really liked the characters as a couple. When they were actually together that is.
I didn't really like the characters as individuals, I found Blythe was annoying, obsessive and seriously naive. Chris on the other hand was a class A douche bag.
In the end i got past all the frustrating parts and tried my hardest to concentrate on the love story happening. The it got to 50% of the book and it wasn't a love story.
When the two finally have sex and not once but for five days straight, you think everything is going to be ok. Finally the two will be together and the story can finally get going but No !! After there little sexapade you would think they would but they get back to campus and Chris has another girlfriend avoiding Blythe.
God i nearly chucked my kindle across the room.
The chemistry between the two was nothing. No special connection, the only thing that they were good together with was the sex. The sex scenes were really good. Well for Blythe anyway lol.

Anyway i rated the novel 2* cause i still found i still couldn't stop reading it till i had finally finished. That has to count for something. right ?
It was like watching a game of ping -pong going back and forth with the characters. I will admit the story is intense and beautifully written. I just wish i could have found a connection to the characters like i do most books, but i just couldn't.
