Cursed Hearts By Light and Lowell

...Rarely when we’re down does the world offer us a hand up instead of a sharp kick to the ribs. But when Rome Navarro, a penniless kid with home issues, receives a scholarship to a prestigious school in his hometown, life is starting to look suspiciously hopeful. Little does he know, Vardel Academy houses an old, deeply guarded secret, and Redwood Bay is harboring mysteries of its own that are just as unsettling. Things become stranger still when he learns of a curse that his family is supposedly plagued by. A curse that involves the shy redhead he has his sights set on. Throw in a guy with an unhealthy fascination for him, and a love rival with cruel intentions, and you’re left with a recipe for both a devilish good time, and inevitably, disaster.
Read on for my review ....

I was Emailed this novel to review and i am so glad i got the chance to. I never would have picked this up other wise and that is the honest truth. As much as i love the supernatural and stuff like that i prefer to watch a film then to read.
I can only give my honest opinion on this novel so i may confuse some of you. I have hugely mixed feelings about this novel.
First lets go with what i didn't like so i can chatter on about the good parts.

Firstly i felt the book needed to be stuck to two or less POV and not to everyones POV who stares in the novel. It was so confusing to read and to grasp on who was thinking what. I actually got lost a few times because of this. Mostly i got lost in places because i found the novel had so many blackouts.
Just when something would get good its like i would blackout and miss what happened. Only i hadn't blacked out the story kind of did. If this even makes any kind of sense.
There was a scene when Rome is listening to Aria play the piano and sing. Only it completely loses you and next thing we know he is in hospital. Well the nurses station. It happens a quite a lot throughout the book and i was kind of putting the pieces together myself.

Now to the good stuff. This novel is kind of like Harry Potter, Supernatural, Vampire diaries, and teen wolf all mixed into one. Seriously it is so good and i am sure i have seen a film where a vampire seduces all his victims male or female to add in but i don't know the name.
I loved Rome he is kind of the beta Alpha. The leader of them all. He goes into this school the most hated, most poor and most of all he goes in clueless as to why he is there. He soon changes all this around and has people start looking up to him or in Kalebs case wanting to get into him. Still now i can never get there relationship or as to who was truly in love with who but i think that makes the story unique to the rest. There is a scene in the novel when Rome is sticking up for shape shifters. Which is what Aria secretly is, and the way he describes it is so close to racism, judgement etc. People always judge people by what they see and never for who they are as a person. Just because old legends or wife tales say people belong in so and so category doesn't always mean we have to stand and follow. Like another old saying goes never judge a book by its cover. This novel is kind of like accepting people for who they are. Whether the author intending it to be read that way i don't know but that's the way i see it. I see a half breed vampire/witch be accepted, gay be accepted, just who they were. Even if the people around them didn't like who they were didn't mean the people who care most about them felt the same way.
I love the line Aria says for the password too.

“‘I am not afraid of an army of lions led by a sheep; I am afraid of an army of sheep led by a lion.’”
Cursed Hearts is hilariously funny too. Kaleb the half breed Vampire/ witch had me increases.
They are getting drunk playing spin the bottle when Dallas decides to change the game to '' I have never'' and they all take in turns getting ruder as they go then it comes to Kalebs turn and he says
'' I have never eaten a cat'' Kaleb dead pans. '' and i seriously hope none of you have either.''
Rome shoved Kaleb on the arm.
'' Seriously? i think you need go again.'' he laughed
'' Kaleb just stared at him. ''Why ? I've literally never eaten a cat. When Rome didn't seem satisfied with that answer. '' Alright i've never eaten a dog,'' he said sarcastically.
Seriously may not seem funny written down but once you get to know the characters and there personalities this coming from Kaleb is funny.
