Trouble By Samantha Towle

Trouble

Mia Monroe is running. Running from a person she doesn’t ever want to find her. Running from a past she doesn’t ever want anyone to know. Desperate to find a future, that yesterday, she could only dream of having.
Jordan Matthews likes easy. Easy women. Easy life.
Then he meets Mia.
She’s damaged, troubled and has more baggage than any person can carry. But the more Jordan gets to know Mia-for the first time in his life-he finds himself wanting to try hard for something … for someone … for her.
And then life isn’t so easy anymore.
Jordan is everything Mia shouldn’t want. A whole bunch of dirty hotness, tattooed, cocky bad boy, who made his money at poker tables and picked his women up in bars. Yet, Mia finds herself falling for him. Then the past Mia was running from, quickly starts to catch up with her. Because that’s the problem with running … you have to stop sometime.
And when you stop, you get caught.

Ok where to start...... Mia and her abusive past. No child should ever have to go through what she went through. EVER. I was completely shocked and sickened by the story line but then i know it happens to children all over the world but reading it was really hard. Been a mother myself there is no possible way i could ever hurt them physically or emotionally. So feeling deeply for Mia was a gods given, she was so kind and caring with a huge heart.
When we find the letter about Mia's birth mom i was gobsmacked to find out he had forced her to be handed over, so i never really understood why he beat her the way he did when he obviously wanted her. Then i thought about general abuse and its all about control and power. Like Forbes he saw the vulnerability in Mia and played on it. Showing her a world where his attention was all on her for him to turn on her in that split second to gain control, to have his power over her.
I have read mixed reviews on this novel and i do not agree with them. Abusive parent i cannot describe what that is like and i know i never will but i understand why she could never walk away or tell anyone, he was all she had.
The comments about Forbes it what made me angry, people saying she only had her self to blame she choose to stay .. etc... etc. I disagree. unless you are in that position you will never truly understand the power an abuser has over you, so anyone who has never been in Mia's shoes cannot say for certain what they would do. Also it was like she said.....

Why do I stay? Because it’s all I know. All I have ever known. Like a bee drawn to honey, I was drawn to a man like Forbes because the life he offers is the one I’m used to.
Now to the best part, the romance. Jordan had me in stitches from the beginning. Typical boy scared of commitment and the first signs of any emotional attention he is a goner. It was hilarious, But the one thing that had me cracking up was the way he talked to his dog Dozer. When he said his own dog cock blocked him that was it i was giggling over it for a while. The whole situation with him and the dog was funny. He was jealous of him and was funny to read.
I liked that both characters had an instant attraction. I had read a few comments about this that i don't think people understand and that they were contradicting themselves ALOT !! They were annoyed by Mia's choice of life and wanted to shake her to leave his sorry ass but when she finds herself drawn to yet another male she is naive and too trusting. I think what she did was brave and completely moving forward, she shouldn't have to go on not been able to be in the same company as a male just because of her past experience. Your past shouldn't become you but help you move forward. Mia's abuse with her father was all she had known, her abuse with Forbes was different but hurt and pain none of the less.

Which brings me to this i really did enjoy this book, i had started it last night and found myself reading unless early hours, but sleep consumed me and i finished it earlier today.
There is a lot of angst, pain, and drama going on in the book, so if you do choose to read i hope you enjoy it.
Mia and Jordan's relationship grows and it is nice to see that after a bad experience there are some good experiences out there too.
