Spark By Jennifer Ryder

Not many people know that I, Eevie Lawson, have a problem. An addiction to romance novels. I eat them for breakfast. I hide it the best I can, but I need them to breathe. It’s how I cope.

I’ve had a swag of book boyfriends, but now that I’m free from the responsibility of caring for my three younger brothers, it’s time to find one in the flesh.

In real life, no girl meets their hero on page one, or even at the end of chapter one. I should know.

My journey is real. It’s not perfect, and it sure as hell isn’t easy—but the fight for something worthwhile never is.

I read the other series in this one before getting to the actual beginning. I've loved everything about the other books, but for some reason, I couldn't get on with this one.
If I had read this one first, there would be no way I would read the rest. So this is a series that is proof books can get better.

Eevie has to be the most awkward character I know. I naive one at that. After wanting to find her own book boyfriend, to find one with that Spark, guess what she does???
Dates her best friend who she knows she has no feelings for. And when that blows up in her face, like she knew it would, but still acted surprised, she went back to an ex. An ex that she found cheating on her.

She gives over her body to him easily, and every time she tries to seduce him he always stops it going further than foreplay.
Why? Read the book.

She meets her roommates boyfriends friend, and instantly feels that Spark, but instead of owning it, she dates her best friend.
Then he's back in the picture, and after keeping on to her virginity for so long she sleeps with him after one night.

Yes I believed they should be together but as far as anything else goes I didn't feel it.

I am told the next book is better.

Sting ( Spark series Book Four) By Jennifer Ryder

Going undercover has its challenges. When Detective Ryan Clark is sent to the sleepy coastal town of Fremantle to dismantle the country's most lethal drug syndicate, it's worth the risk. Even if he becomes a fatality, in the war on drugs.

Ryan finds himself coming back to the same coffee shop. Blondie, the local barrista, has him hot under the collar and reaching for his piece. He knows the attraction isn't just one sided.

She's trying to keep her distance.

It only makes him want her more.

Willow Asher, left it all behind, but not by choice.

After two long years, she's finally getting somewhere. Willow has a busy cafe, with her buxom business partner, Gabby, who is the closest thing she has to family.

Although Willow's past still plagues her thoughts, she's determined to have her happily ever after. As soon as her demons stop haunting her.

What she doesn't need is the complications of Mr Sexy-Brown-Eyes, who seems to be drinking more and more coffee.

She doesn't want the questions.

She's still trying to get her story straight.

I'm really starting to like this series. Even if I am reading it backwards.
After reading an ARC of Switch, I have been dying to read another in the series. This character and blurb stood out to me. I also remember meeting him in Switch.

When Ryan goes undercover and moves to a small town, he made a promise to himself to keep it strictly business.
That didn't take long.
I honestly thought he'd have more restraint. But no. And I didn't blame him. Willow is intriguing, kind and loving. She's also got a hidden past.

While he keeps his job and personal life separate, he still tries everyday to get Willow to loosen up around him. When he finds something that she will enjoy he ends up fixing her garden for her. It's so freaking sweet and thoughtful I had a right mind to ask the author if he was based on a real person. LOL

Anyway, the two become close but soon Ryan finds it hard to separate the two and it all blows up in his face one night when Willow catches him doing something. Although to him it's innocent, to her it's a deal breaker and they both end up crushed in the process.

I loved reading it, and am starting finishing another tonight. But I have to put this out there and say the ending needed more. I wanted her past to collide with his job, or something. Everything seemed so simple. There were no twists and turns.
The only thing that had you gripped was the big secret Willow is hiding, but when it's revealed it's nothing compared to the scenarios that were running through my mind. It let the book down a little I think.

I'm still going to rate it a 3,5* because it's something I'll defo recommend to a friend.

Switch (Spark Series Book Five) By Jennifer Ryder

With an ex fiancĂ© leaving her in debt, breaking up with her girlfriend and struggling to find a place she can afford, Sophie McKenna has hit an all-time low. Everyone thinks she’s a lesbian, and she likes it that way, but her estranged parents know better.

The foul-mouthed motocross mechanic, Rocco De Luca, only has his incarcerated brother left. Every day is a battle of the mind and of the bottle. Tequila and easy women soothe the pain, but they never fill the void.

Rocco doesn’t mind offering his spare room to the hot lesbian he refers to as ‘Suds’. She won’t be clingy, far from it, and he’s keen on the idea of getting to see a bit of girl on girl action.

With such volatile personalities under the same roof, and being in April and Spencer’s wedding party, they both have to learn to get along, even though they can’t stand each other.

He never thought he might actually grow to like her.

She never thought she might actually hate him less.

I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book is about struggles of life. Rocco is not only fighting through the loss of his mother, the fact his brother is in prison, but mostly, he's an alcoholic.

Sophie is working her ass off in a dead end job while she struggles to pay off her debt her ex left her with and finishing uni.

When she finishes with her girlfriend she moves in with her best friend April, but listening to April and her soon to be husbands gets old pretty quick and when Rocco offers her his spare room for a few months she's hesitant at first, but in the end, she takes it.

The don't start off with fun and games. I think they find it hard to find that common ground, especially when they find each other attractive.

I loved these two. Not only as friends but as lovers too. I loved the interaction between the two and how they didn't just jump into bed with each other. There's also a scene that has me in stitches. It involves a dildo and an awkward trip to the hospital.

I would have liked more from them as a couple, but I suppose the journey that got them to being a couple was well worth the read. It was hard, gritty and completely overwhelming at times.

I will defo be reading more from this series now. I'd like to go back and read April and Spencer's story.
