Opal (Lux Series Book Three) By Jennifer L. Armentrout

NO ONE IS LIKE DAEMON BLACK.
When he set out to prove his feelings for me, he wasn't fooling around. Doubting him isn't something I'll do again, and now that we've made it through the rough patches, well... There's a lot of spontaneous combustion going on.
But even he can't protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they love.
After everything, I'm no longer the same Katy. I'm different... And I'm not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I'm capable. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won't turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.

Together we're stronger... and they know it.

Holy crap!!!

This series just keeps getting better and better. I'm blown away. Jennifer is an amazing writer. I've never experienced this level of obsession for a series like I have this one. I can't stop reading them. I envy her writing and hope one day I can reach this level.

So much loss, so much death is in this book. When we lose Adam, I didn't think I'd cry again during the book, but then I read Opal and I realised how wrong I was. Katy has to face so much throughout the book, along with coming to terms with the blame she harbors for everything that happened with Adam and coping with what is happening to her.

It's still weird her mom not being in the picture that much. She really doesn't have any parental guidance. Not that she's immature or childish, she's anything but. She's actually one of the maturest out of the group.

I love the connection between Daemon and Katy and by God it just gets strong during this book. It's mind blowing and every time they're close to becoming intimate they get interrupted and I'm usually one that skims through sex scenes because they all seem to be the same in books, but I was actually dying on the inside to know what it would be like between the two. But it's really PG, barely knowledgeable. It doesn't ruin the book, but it did disappoint me a little, but I can understand her keeping it PG.

They face more obstacles and once again have to trust the person who has done nothing but lie and betray them. It was a recipe for disaster from the beginning. I don't know how they couldn't see it coming or plan ahead or put another plan in case.

The ending however, blew my freaking mind. It was two in the morning and I had to buy the fourth book. There was no way around it. The book ended so shockingly and it has to be the best cliffhanger EVER!!! I screamed, literally.
I don't think you could beat this series LOL

One thing I didn't mention in my other reviews was Katy's love for blogging and reviewing books. Now, I can relate with her love because it's something I LOVE doing, but with my writing taking off I haven't been able to give Lisa's book Reviews the love and dedication it deserves. Anyway, reading how she would video blog her reviews, etc had me coming up with an idea, so I may or may not do a video review of the entire series once I've finished.

Highly recommend this series to ANYONE. I don't really think there's a certain age limit. I'd let a sixteen year old plus read this.
I can't even rave enough about this series.

Soooo freaking good.

Also, my friend Charlotte is reading the series and is currently a book behind me and her level of excitement over the book is just the same. She hasn't been able to stop reading them. She didn't even need to read the blurb before giving the book a go ahead from my say so. She dived in and when she found out they were alien she was completely shocked. She didn't see it coming.
Now she's onto book three and unable to stop reading or talking about it. I've been finding it hard to talk about my theory on certain things because she hates in when I tell her something she hasn't read yet.

So.... If you've read this series or are about to and would love to talk about it, just comment below.
We can talk about Daemon and is awesomeness and hotness or we could just talk about Flake and his continuous betrayal.

This is definitely a 5* for me but I don't need to tell you that.

Onyx (Lux Series Book Two) By Jennifer L. Armentrout

BEING CONNECTED TO DAEMON BLACK SUCKS...
Thanks to his alien mojo, Daemon's determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro connection. So I've sworn him off, even though he's running more hot than cold these days. But we've got bigger problems.
SOMETHING WORSE THAN ARUM HAS COME TO TOWN
The Department of Defense is here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we're linked, I'm a goner. So is he. And there's this new boy in school who's got a secret of his own. He knows what's happened to me and he can help, but to do so, I have to lie to Daemon and stay away from him. Like that's possible. Against all common sense, I'm falling for Daemon. Hard.
BUT THEN, EVERYTHING CHANGES
I've seen someone who shouldn't be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he's never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them-from me?
NO ONE IS WHO THEY SEEM. AND NOT EVERYONE WILL SURVIVE THE LIES.

I couldn't dive into this book quick enough. After the way Daemon left the last book, warning Katy that he loved a challenge, I couldn't wait to read this one.

There's so much going on, so many twists and turns and it blew me away.

Blake, the new guy at Katy's school comes out of nowhere. Literally. I had my suspicions along with Daemon about him, but nothing prepared me for what happened. I was so shocked, but even when the truth, part truth, is revealed I still had my doubts. I was right too. Nothing is as it seems with him.

Katy goes on a date with Blake but she's unsure whether it's because he's 'normal' or because she wants to make Daemon jealous. The chemistry between the two is off the charts and with each chapter it becomes hotter, more intense. I never knew what to expect when it came to the two. One second I was sure they were gonna kill each other the next I thought they'd jump each other.

So many secrets were revealed, so many lies told it was a whirlwind of emotions.
We lose a little of Katy, the old Katy and in her place is a confident, strong willed woman.

The two are in more danger and it only grows further into the book. The ending had me in tears and I couldn't breathe. Everything just seemed to happen at once, it was so intense.

Onto book three it is.....

Obsidian (Lux Series #1) By Jennifer L. Armentrout

STARTING OVER SUCKS
When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.
AND THEN HE OPENED HIS MOUTH
Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something... unexpected happens.
THE HOT ALIEN LIVING NEXT DOOR MARKS ME
You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.
IF I DON'T KILL HIM FIRST, THAT IS

Holy fudge balls....

I don't even know what to say or where to start because I love this book so faking much.

I literally downloaded a sample, a bit wary of the price at £4.99 but honestly? I never would normally buy an EBOOK for that price, but this series is so worth the extra pennies I normally spend.
I didn't even need to download the sample. I literally read chapter one and was hooked and immediately bought the ebook.

Katy moves to West Virgina before starting her senior year. When her mom tells her she needs to get out, meet new people she pushes Katy to go next door, introduce herself to the two kids she had seen.
Katy, basically the adult of the house decides to kill two birds with one stone, going over and asking for directions to the nearest shop whilst introducing herself.
Daemon was rude, cocky and shirtless. I need to stress on the word shirtless LOL because holy hell I am seriously in love with him. Even with his arrogant, cocky, rude self. Everything about him is sexy, self assured and my god, dangerous.

Anyway, Katy befriends his twin sister, Dee and she's freaking lovely. She's bubbly, outgoing and obviously hiding something.

Then Katy is roped into going out with Daemon by herself after he offended her. Dee had blackmailed him into going and he has no choice, but Katy, although she wants to kill him, actually finds herself having a good time.

There's a huge spark between the two and you see it with every page you turn. It's freaking hot. I loved the chemistry and the connection the two have.

Then Katy starts back up at school after being attacked coming out of the library. Nothing in the town seems to add up and she has some sort of answer to why when rumors fill the school about Daemon and Dee.

What she's about to find out though, changes her life forever....

I couldn't put this book down. I literally had a hard time putting it down to answer the phone or anything. I was literally glued to it. When I first saw Alien, I was like, NOPE!! Nothing could make me want to read about an Alien. But trust me, this isn't your normal green, skinny body, big headed creature.
There's a deep story behind everything and I can't believe how much detail has been put into the book. It's brilliant. Beautifully written and Jennifer L Armentrout is such a talented author for coming up with such an incredible story.
The second I finished book one I was wondering why the hell there wasn't a movie of this series yet. Like seriously, it would be one I'd watch over and over if given the chance.

I can't stress enough to the people who haven't read this book yet to read it. I've loved every word written and already on book three LOL

Evil By Tijan

You know that group of people in school that everyone fears? Popular. Beautiful. The in-crowd?
That was my family. Kind of.
We were above that group. We held court over everyone else. We were the best looking. We were the mysterious and elusive ones. Most of the girls wanted to (and did) date the guys, but they didn’t want to be one of us. They couldn’t be. They were our prey.
We were the feared.
But like every family, nothing is as it seems. That was my truth.
Kellan was in his own league. He was our leader and he was the one no one messed with. No one dared. He was ruthless, powerful, and no one could match him…
Except for me.
I was about to find out just how different I was from my family.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

First off, I read the sneak peak of Evil when I finished Logan Kade's book. It intrigued me from the very first chapter.
Evil isn't my usual read but something about it captured me, so when I was gifted an ARC for a review I jumped at the chance. (Although, I still pre-ordered this beauty)
I haven't read a paranormal romance since Existence, by Abbi Glines. Nothing ever caught my attention, until now.

Evil is about good and evil, angels and demons and who will win? Shay and Kellan are their own brand in a way and have connected from an early age. They've grown up as siblings but there is more to their story then meets the eye.

There were times I couldn't picture where I was in the book, visualise my surroundings which did make it hard to connect to the book at times. I didn't feel Tijan explained it as best she could and instead rushed through it?? I don't know it's hard to explain.

Anyhow... You could feel the connection and tension between the two main characters which had me instantly hooked. I was rooting for them from the beginning (Even when I thought they were siblings. Somehow I knew they weren't.) and I loved the mysterious and sexy Kellan. Hid devotion and protective side to Shay is what had me falling head over heals for him. He literally gives up everything he is to be with her. After all, he's a demon and.... well, Shay is a messenger. She's lovely, mixed up with so many emotions and so many hidden secrets that it takes us on a rollacoaster. Shay herself is the reason everything is so up in the air. She put a spell on herself when she was just an infant and ever since then has been living a lie.

Both escaping from their pasts, trying not to tie their bond is really hard for both of them. Their connection to each other is so strong, so hot that we know they're going to snap any second, especially when Shay remembers her past and who she is.

There are a lot of twist and turns and so many secondary characters that all have a main involvement. It made it more exciting to read.
Shay's other siblings: I really wanted to like them, but I couldn't. Unlike Shay and Kellan, their twin brother and sister are actually blood related and slept together. I found that gross LOL!! Buy more than that they were pure evil where something in Kellan was good. He says it's because Shay brings it out in him, but I honestly believe it's more than that. I think there was good in him.

Tijan has brought back my love for paranormal. I'm a huge fan of Buffy, Charmed and all those kind of TV series. But it wasn't until the Twilight series and the Existence series that my love for paranormal romance novels began.
But like I said, I couldn't get into any books until now and I'm so glad I read it. I'm really hoping she writes another like Evil because I loved it.

Ceaseless (Existence #3) By Abbi Glines

Can he make her fall in love with him… again?

When Pagan Moore proved worthy of Death’s devotion, he was given the gift of getting to keep her.

But Dank was never promised that Pagan would keep him.

When a soul is created, so is its mate. In every lifetime those souls find each other. They complete the other’s destiny. It’s time for Pagan’s soul to choose if she truly wants an eternity at Death’s side or if she wants the mate created just for her.

Dank didn’t think he had to worry about her choice. He knew where her heart belonged. Until he realized that every kiss, every touch, every moment of their time together would be washed from her memories. He would have to win her heart all over again and prove to her soul that he was where she belonged.

If only her soul’s mate wasn’t right there standing in his way.

Finally Pagan, and Dank are together! Everything should go right, right? No. WRONG!

"For every soul, they have another true soul attached."

Pagan wasn't supposed to see death, she wasn't supposed to be alive, or fall in love with him. The two were never meant to meet.

So when Dank is told Pagan has to choose between him and her soul mate, he doesn't think he has to worry. He know's he doesn't have to worry, he knows how she feels, how they feel about each other.....

Only he wasn't expecting her to be washed of all her memories......

I couldn't believe it, but it was nice to see the two form a bond without souls in coming in between. It let us see them for who they were, and I was happy Pagan got a taste of normal. Well, normal for her.
I mean, Pagan had saw souls her entire life, so meeting Dank fascinated her, knowing she never knew the reasons as to why she could see them.
So when she doesn't remember ever seeing a soul, that bond she first had with Dank is gone. What first connected them together vanished, the two never had that in common anymore.
Starting fresh she is torn between her soul mate and Dank.
I was devastated when I thought they would never get to be together again, but then true love always finds themselves again. So I was glad when Gee pushed Pagan to remember.
But the ending had me shocked as hell. It gripped me, and was so intense.
Great read.
This trilogy is so good that i still believe it is good enough to be made a movie. It has everything a best selling movie needs.

5* to the well deserved trilogy.

Predestined (Existence #2) By Abbi Glines

You would think after helping save her boyfriend from an eternity in Hell that things would go back to normal. Well, as normal as life can be when you can see souls and your boyfriend is Death. But for Pagan Moore, things are just getting weirder.

The high school quarterback and reigning heartthrob, Leif Montgomery, is missing. While the town is in a frenzy of worry, Pagan is a nervous wreck for other reasons. Apparently good ‘ol Leif isn’t your average teenage boy. He isn’t even human. According to Death, Leif doesn’t have a soul. The quarterback may have skipped town but he’s still showing up in Pagan’s dreams... uninvited.

Dank has known from the beginning Leif wasn’t human. But he hadn’t worried about a simple soulless creature. Now, he realizes he made a grave mistake. Pagan’s soul has been marked since birth as a restitution, to a spirit so dark not even Death walks near it. Dank knows saving Pagan’s soul won’t be easy but Pagan is his. And he’s already proven he’ll defy Heaven to keep her. If Hell wants a piece of him too, then bring it on.

So It turns out Lief is not who he say he is. That little cliff hanger had me buying this book straight away.
In fact, we find out he isn't even human.
The towns quarterback he has been reported missing, and no one has heard from him since Pagan left him in the corridor at school.
I couldn't believe it, my suspicions where right about him all along. I was just glad he left Pagan alone as I am totally rooting for her and Dank.

I was so glad when they started to show Leif's evil side, it made me feel better for rooting for Dank, and even though Dank is officially DEATH, and has no soul, he sort of kind of does when it comes to Pagan. He loves her, and in their own special way they own it.
When Dank comes back into Pagan's life, I was so happy. I was glad when Abbi showed us his possessive, and controlling side, really showing who Dank really is as a person and not just as Death.
I really love the new characters too in this book, Gee, I couldn't get enough of, she made me laugh so much. Specially when she called Paygan, Peggy-Anne. Totally fell in love with her. Never laughed so much in my life when it came to that girl.

I sobbed my Heart out when a certain someone dies. I really hadn't seen it coming.
What really had me at this book was Abbi's look on life, after DEATH.

I have never read something so heart warming in all my life. I never really believed in God, but I believe in a life after death. I mean there has to be right? Our souls should live on, be recycled as Abbi puts it. We move on and our souls are attached to other souls.
It could explain why we get da javu's, even though we never lived that moment before.

The whole book is about souls, Not people as a person, but as souls. So when *cough cough* dies, and Dank explains the gift of life and death, I was sobbing my heart out.
When one soul dies, it lives in another. Souls attach themselves to those they love, and find away to bring themselves back to them. So when *cough cough* dies, Dank hinted he would be back in the form of someone else, but his soul would still be attached to his one true love, and the two will be reunited.
In the novel Dank explains there are two souls who are destined to be together, they are soul mates, true loves, and that *cough cough* would return in a unique form.
So when I got to the end of the book, and I saw for myself that *cough cough* had in fact, returned, I squealed and cried like a girl. A love that strong shouldn't end. i was such a gushy mess.

It was so awe inspiring, I always believed in life after death and wondered what happened to who we are inside, not who we are on the inside.
Abbi Glines explained it beautifully and amazingly written.

Existence (Existence #1) By Abbi Glines

"I was supposed to die but I didn't."

Throughout her life, Pagan Moore has seen souls. They don't speak to her but they know she sees them. It's a part of her life she keeps hidden from everyone else. She's different...

And he knows it.

Pagan begins seeing him everywhere. In her classroom and her bedroom. The soul is stalking her and she can't make him go away. Everything is different with him. Beginning with the fact he speaks to her. Just when she thinks he's gone, her world completely changes.

He is Death and he's about to break all the rules.

I absolutely Love this book.
I don't think words can describe how much iIwas addicted to this book from the very start and even read it within a few hours of downloading it.
Having read most of Abbi;s novels, this one is by far the best one out of them all. It was also the last one i read out of all her books, even though this was always lingering on my recommendation list.
I know, I'm ashamed to admit that every time I saw the book pop up on my recommendations, the blurb never really appealed to me. I'm so disappointed in myself, and never again will I judge a book by it's blurb.

I mean come on, death? How was I supposed to know it would be as romantic as it was.

But as always Abbi surprises me with the most spectacular book that I have ever read. It wasn't hard putting this as my number one read. And as many books I have right up there, this one will forever stay with me.
The Love story between the two characters is unique and forbidden. After all the twist and turns though it ends with the cliff hanger.
I was unsure at first where Leif fitted in too the book as i was always suspicious of him, which of course i was right too after the cliff hanger i was left with, which leads us too ......Predestined, make sure you check out my review.

Officer next door (Lock and Key #1) By Ranae Rose

How can anyone resist temptation when it's right next door?

Riley County North Carolina has a lot to offer: coastal views as far as the eye can see, and men in uniform who are even more gorgeous. Home to the most notorious prison in the state, Alicia's new hometown is crawling with men who carry their own handcuffs and know how to use them - like Officer Liam Alexander, her one and only neighbor. After catching him out of uniform, she can't resist pausing to enjoy the show. When Liam's Southern charm drives him across the property line, life gets hotter than the Carolina summer could possibly account for. Unfortunately, there's a dark side to life in the coastal haven, even with an officer next door.

Coordinating special events at a historic - and supposedly haunted - plantation is enough to have Alicia questioning her senses and her sanity, but the spirits of the past take a backseat to a pair of escaped convicts who blaze a trail of mayhem across Riley County. Not even the most intense chemistry can survive the perils that make a sunny seaside town a dangerous place to be after dark ... can it?

I was unsure about the story before buying it but I couldn't resist the blurb.
I'm not keen on reading in third person, this book was no exception. Usually I can read past it as such, but with this one I couldn't. I felt the book had too much going on for it to be written in third person. It skips all the emotional parts for me.

It's mixed in with paranormal as Riley, the main female heroine see's ghosts and has a presence in her house. I don;t know about anyone else, but i'd have been running for the hills, not checking the sound out LOL
I loved Liam, although I wish he was more alpha male. I didn't find that with him. I also wanted to read more his part, but it never happened.

The sex scenes were a disappointed, again, down to the third person.
