Playing for keeps (The Game series #2) By Emma Hart

She's in love with him.
He's trying not to love her.
One night changes everything.

Aston Banks never meant to get close to Megan Harper - not even for that one night. Haunted by a childhood he refuses to face, he knew she could break through every wall he'd ever built and tear them down without even realizing she was doing it.

Betraying Braden by starting a relationship with Aston wasn't on Megan's to-do list, but the second she sees a glimpse of someone other than the arrogant ass she's come to know, she can't walk away.

Aston's childhood is worse than Megan ever guessed, but as he tries and fails to push her away, it's clear her love is stronger than the demons that cling to him every day. And now, because of it, he finally has to deal with what he's buried deep down.

What he doesn't want to face. What he's fought against for so long.

And they have to do it all without Braden finding out.

Keeping a relationship secret has never been harder.

Playing for keeps is the second novel in the game series by Emma Hart. I hadn't heard of this until someone on my blog page recommended it to and i'm so glad they did. I loved it.

I found a few faults with the book and it did drag on in places but it never took me from wanting to rush the book, in fact, I was stuck between wanting to absorb it and devour it. I love a young adult romance. I love the first in the series so I was glad Emma kept on with the characters. I had loved Ashton in the first one, so I'm glad we got a inside to him.

His story reminds me a lot of Baby P's story, but with a better outcome. It completely broke me reading the things that Ashton went through. It's hard to stomach anyone being hurt, but for a defenseless child being beaten, their protectors, their guardians, not doing a thing to stop it, prevent it or protect is just sickening.
He has dealt with what happened better than I would have let's put it that way. The only thing that confused me during the whole book was his need for sex. In the book he says to Megan that they told him numerous of times he'd end up like his mom. Sex, drugs and countless men, selling herself etc. In stead of proving them wrong in an extent, he went out and slept with anything with a pulse and somewhere to get off. Kind of not the point.
I think Emma did a fantastic job writing his feelings, how she made them come across made them that much real.

Then we have Megan, his knight-in-shining-armor, she comes into his darkness bringing her light. She doesn't let him push her away when things get dark for him and he finally lets someone in. Megan.
She's such a lovable character and when they have their banter arguments I was in stitches. Even when they were secretly together they still had banter moments that had an inside meaning to just them too. Kind of cute now I think about it.

There were a few parts in the book that didn't make sense to me. Here is an example.

"Honestly though, I thought he was gonna kill his mom the amount of times she embarrassed him.'' she giggles and we sink into the armchairs. "I've never seen a guy before.''

"I've never seen a guy before'' ????? um?? I'm pretty sure she was talking to a guy. There were a few more like this. I never highlighted them all, but this is one that had me re-reading over to see if I missed something.

All in all I rated the book a 3* and I'll be reading the next one for sure, I just hope the writing is better mapped out. It did ruin the book, but not the actual story. It was just as sweet, romantic, and cute as it should have been. Loved it.

The love game By Emma Hart

His challenge? Make her fall in love with him.
Her challenge? Play the player.
Until life changes the rules of the game.

Maddie Stevens hated Braden Carter on sight. Arrogant, egotistical, and the playboy of the University of California, Berkeley, he's everything her brother Pearce has taught her to despise. So why, when the girls challenge her to play the player, doesn't she say no? She doesn't know either.

Braden wanted fiery little Maddie the second he laid eyes on her - and he'd do anything to have her, hence why he's agreed to make her fall in love with him. After all, it's the only way he'll get what he wants. Sex.

But, as Braden discovers, there's more to the girl from Brooklyn than he ever imagined - and he can't help but care about the broken girl behind those pretty green eyes.

Maddie finds Braden isn't just a walking erection - he actually has feelings. He can be sweet, funny and his good looks don't exactly hurt. That means trouble - but when her brother Pearce turns up in Berkeley begging for her help, she realises Braden and Pearce aren't so alike anymore.

And maybe, just maybe, they're exactly what each other needs.

Ahhhh, what can I say. I love this book and have read it a few times now, but only just getting around to reviewing. So for those who haven't yet met Maddie and Branden, then get ONE CLICKING!!.

I'm a huge fan of American College Romance novels. I don't know why. It may be because of their surroundings, their social life's and what have you. I just find it more realistic than I would if someone here from the UK were to write one based here in the UK.
The Love Game is just one of the best ones out there.

Maddie attends a party with a bunch of her friends when she sees the local, walking, male erection. He's a fu*k um and dump um kind of boy, so when Maddie's friends challenge her because she's immune (so she thinks) to his charms, to play the player, she hesitatingly accepts. What she wasn't expecting was for Branden to be someone totally different to who she thought he'd be, her brother.

Branden is every young girls dream. He's hot, athletic, and charming. He knows what he wants and he isn't afraid to get it.
When he sees Maddie, he labels her a princess so to speak. Thinking she had a stick up her own ass was a judgment he'd never take back.
To be honest, it was funny to see the two try not to fall for each other. You could see it coming a mile away, yet, it still didn't ruin the book for you.

The ending was amazing and like they always say, two wrongs don't make a right, but in this case their wrongs? Made a right.

Rival (Fall away series Book Two) By Penelope Douglas

Madoc and Fallon. Two estranged teenagers playing games that push the boundaries between love and war . . .

She's back.
For the three years she's been away at boarding school, there was no word from her. Back when we lived in the same house, she used to cut me down during the day and then leave her door open for me at night.

I was stupid then, but now I'm ready to beat her at her own game . . .

I'm back.

Three years and I can tell he still wants me, even if he acts like he's better than me.

But I won't be scared away. Or pushed down. I'll call his bluff and fight back. That's what he wants, right? As long as I keep my guard up, he'll never know how much he affects me . . .

Oh my God. I absolutely loved this book. I took a gamble with it being 2.99, but my God it was so worth it. I really needed this book in my life right now. I've been having a bad case of one stars lately, so this has made up for all of them. I loved it.
I still haven't read Until you, the second novel in the fall away series because of it been in the same story but in another POV.
Then I saw this on my recommendation list and knew I had to have it. I liked Madoc, a little, in the last novel BULLY, but I always found his a jerk. I was so glad when I read this novel it had it in his POV as well.

Fallen is such an unusable name, it had taken me a while to get used to. I really enjoyed her character, and loved the fact she wasn't another perfect character. She had flaws. She wasn't this made up, perfect, goody two shoes. She wore piercings, tattoos, and wore glasses. I really did love her character.
Then we have Madoc, who every girl at a school would love to get their hands on. He's the boy, girls crush on, wishing they were his girl. That bad boy vibe, rich, cocky, and drop dead gorgeous. Who wouldn't want to be with him? aha

This book, although kind of the same, is so much steamier than Bully. It was completely hot!!! I was so glad it got spiced up because it made the book better. Although, I did get kind of annoyed towards the end at how many sex scenes there were. I just wanted to read the story plot.
The story plot was brilliant and well thought out. I couldn't wait to see how it turned out.
I read the sneaky peak at the next book and I can't wait to read about Jax. I seriously want to know everything about him. He's this tortured soul who you really want to get to know. I felt so sad at the end of this book at what he did. I really wanted someone to ask him, to shout at him for what he did, but it wasn't mentioned :( I just don't like the thought of him forcing himself to do something he didn't want to do, just to make others happy.
There goes my protective side again!!!

5* I cannot wait to read the next one.

Waiting on the sidelines By Ginger Scott

Nolan Lennox had things figured out. Named after a baseball legend, she enjoyed being the Tomboy, her closet filled with her brother's hand-me-downs, cut-off jeans and soccer shorts. But when her first trip to high school results in a broken heart from the first boy to ever make her heart flutter and cruel words from an older girl she once thought a family friend, Nolan starts to question the very person she thought she was and wonders if her humble upbringing can compete with the afforded luxuries of her privileged peers.

Throughout the next four years, Nolan struggles to maintain herself throughout her path of discovery, learning just how cruel teenagers can be through the pressures of underage drinking, sexuality and class. And despite how life seems to continue to work against her, she still manages to listen to her heart, falling deeper and deeper for the guy the entire town adores, even if he only sees her as a friend. Can Nolan strike a compromise between her own integrity and the boy she loves? And can she make him notice her before it's too late?

Reed Johnson came to Coolidge High School with a lot of fanfare. The son of a hometown football legend and the brother of a local football hero, Reed wore all the pressures of carrying a town without hope into the spotlight. Thankfully, he had the talent to back it up. But when he meets a girl who makes him think twice about exactly what being a hero means, he starts to wonder if following in his brother's footsteps might be all wrong.

Nolan Lennox was everything that was opposite of expected. She didn't flirt, she didn't drink and she didn't sleep around. Nothing about her was easy, but something about her made Reed want to try harder. Though she didn't look the part, she seemed to be spending a lot of time in Reed's thoughts, and he wondered if she could be the one who made it all worthwhile. But could Reed handle letting her down? And would breaking her heart break him beyond repair?

Waiting on the Sidelines explores young love to its fullest, exposing how real young heartbreak and passion is and how important it is to discover yourself and hold onto your own identity. The story follows two young characters as they deal with mature situations, including the prevalence of bullying and promiscuity in today's high school setting. Ultimately, Waiting on the Sidelines is a story of hope, honesty and those powerful, first true loves--the ones worth holding onto at any cost.

I'm going to be honest and rate this low for ME !! Not because of anyone else or because I didn't finish to the end.
I literally stopped reading 77% in. Before I say why, let me explain. I don't usually read these types of books. Although I did have an argument over Fallen crest and few other novels I've read are in the same genre. I just felt this book was so plain and it was boring, FOR ME

My rating isn't fair on this novel as when I brought the sample I flipped through it easily and thought, I'm enjoying this. Then I purchased it and found my self falling asleep. It dragged so much. Everything was soooooo detailed. The writing was fantastic though.
Also, it brought up many issues school girls have at that age. I think someone younger than me will enjoy this book. How they can compare it to their first love or the person they love. I don't really know. All I know is, this book isn't for me. Which is why I haven't given it a rating, but thought I'd write a review.

Fall (Seaside series) #4 By Rachel Van Dyken

If you look up British in the dictionary…A-list celebrity Jamie Jaymeson’s name would be next to it. Along with charming, witty, man-whore, and a lot of other adjectives that he wouldn’t appreciate being attached to his name.
He has everything in the world going for him.
Until fate decides his number’s finally up.
Caught in a compromising position that really wasn’t his fault to begin with (really it wasn’t)—Jaymeson’s been told by his agent to lay low in the one town he swore he’d never return to—the seventh circle of hell, known by its residents as Seaside, Oregon.
Two months? He can do anything for two months. Especially if it means getting a part in the new book-to-movie series that has girls all over the world swooning.
Play nice? Keep it in his pants? Please. He played an alien once—he was going to totally rock it.
Until a certain someone who he may or may not have publicly humiliated—rejected, then humiliated again, suddenly pops up next door.
Self control has a way of flying out the window when the one girl you can’t have—is suddenly dangled right in front of you.
But Priscilla isn’t just off limits—she’s a pastor's daughter and barely legal to boot. So Jaymeson does the one thing he swore he’d never do—he tries to be friends. With a woman.
Only, it’s exactly what he needs.
Until suddenly, he craves more.
He wants to date her.
She wants to date someone else.
He wants to kiss her.
She asks him to give her lessons for her new boyfriend.
When opposites attract, sometimes the only option you have is to leap—and trust the fact that when you fall—that special someone falls too.

I wasn't expecting to enjoy this one as much as I did. Rachel still managed to make this hilariously funny and entertaining. Only Jaymeson could make this book the way it is.
I loved him from the beginning.
Only he could fall in love with a good church girl.
He was sweet, and funny and so entertaining when it came to his jealous streak.
Without spoiling anything the two live next to each other after a fire breaks out at Priscilla's home, and in the morning they both walk out onto the balcony and scream when they see each other. It may not seem funny for people reading this review, but I pictured the scene so clearly in my head that I couldn't stop laughing about it for a while.

Then we have the whole pretending to be someone else thing he had going on, just so he could selfishly stay in her life. I found this really cute and sweet. I really loved her as a character, and loved the chemistry between the two.

Another fantastic read from the seaside series.
This one will have you laughing, wishing for more, and having you flooding in tears.
Yes! you heard me. Tears. This has an emotional ending, and I sobbed until my eyes and chest stung.

Shatter (Seaside series) #3 By Rachel Van Dyken

Sometimes the only way to heal... is to shatter.

Rock star Alec Daniels has it all. Love, fame, money... But being in the limelight isn't all it’s cracked up to be, and after one bad choice comes back to haunt him he is left picking up the pieces of his carefully constructed life. Now he faces the toughest decision of his life:

Deal with his mistake like a man, or dive back into the dark hole of depression, drugs, and denial that have been his comfort for so long.

One wrong move could destroy everything. His girlfriend, his family, and his future.

This has to be one of my favorite in the series. We get to see all characters from the series together ''team building''. I can't even describe how funny it is. They have to work as a couple for a reality TV show and believe me I would love for it to be real, because I'd be watching it.

Secrets are revealed, and lies are told in this fantastic novel, but all explode into another mind blowing novel. Pasts come back into light and all hell breaks lose, all this with cameras following their every move.

We all get to see Jamyeson and I will be writing my review about his novel next :)

Be sure to grab a copy and get to know these Daniels boys. They are on Book Boyfriend you want to keep for the rest of your life.

If only they were real ;)

All in all another 5* review, though I wish I could give this one more.

Where I belong By J.Daniels

When Mia Corelli returns to Alabama for a summer of fun with her childhood best friend, Tessa, there's only one thing keeping her on edge. One person that she’d do anything to avoid.

Benjamin Kelly. World’s biggest dickhead.

Mia hates him with a fury and has no desire to ever see him again. When she decides to start her summer off with a bang and finally give away her v-card, she unknowingly hands it over to the one guy that excelled at making her life miserable, learning a valuable lesson in the process.

Always get the name of the guy you’re going home with.

Ben can’t get the girl he spent one night with out of his head. When she leaves him the next morning, he thinks he’ll never see her again. Until he sees her lounging by the pool with his sister.

Mia is determined to hate Ben, even though she can’t forget him.

Ben is determined to prove he’s not the same guy he used to be.

What happens when the one person you wish never existed becomes the one person you can’t imagine being without?

I absolutely LOVED this novel. It was so refreshing and I couldn't put it down. I was so glad I found this novel on a off chance. I hadn't read anything from this author before, and I was so glad I found her because I loved this book.

The characters are really funny, kind, lovable, and the story plot was fantastic. Never read one like this or even similar.
I liked how she never forgave him so easily for all the name calling he done when they were kids. go girl!!

The story takes you on a journey. Mia has so much going on in her life. Her mom is ill with cancer, she is still or well was a virgin, and was looking forward to a break. What she wasn't expecting was that Ben would be the person she sleeps with. Only, at the time neither knew who each other was. Very funny. He was dreading his sisters friend coming, but then turns out he couldn't get enough of her.

Sweet addiction By J. Daniels

Wedding hookups never amount to anything.

Those who partake in this wicked little activity know the rules. Get in. Get laid. Get out. There's no expectation of a relationship. It is what it is.

Dylan Sparks knows the rules. She’s familiar with the protocol. And she engages in the best sex of her life with a complete stranger at her ex-boyfriend’s wedding.

Reese Carroll doesn’t care about the rules. He wants more than just one night with Dylan. And he’s too addicting to pass up.

Sweet Addiction is the story of one girl’s struggle to keep things casual, and one boy’s desire to never let her go.

Ahhhhh, wedding hook ups. This is something I have never done.
This is a witty, sexy, fun novel. I have only recently read J.Daniels, I had never heard of her before. I loved the first novel from her, so I decided why not read another. This did not disappoint.

There were times during the book I wished the two would just talk to each other, instead of second guessing what the other was thinking. It all works out in the end. I did rate this a 4* because I did feel it dragged in certain places, and as much as I love hot scenes, there were just to many.... it got to the point where I questioned if I was really reading a porno. The novel is fantastic, and so is the story line. very different from the books I have been reading which was refreshing.

Fall to pieces By Chloe Walsh

Kyle Carter was never going to be an easy man to love. Lee Bennett knew that from their very first encounter, but the secrets of his past have exploded in Lee's face putting an end to their explosive love affair.
Pregnant and homeless, Lee must try to find a way to live side by side with the man who destroyed her. The very man she is still desperately in love with, but can never trust.

But Kyle isn't about to give up on the girl he loves. Hell bent on winning Lee back, Kyle will stop at nothing in his quest.
But even more tests, trials and tribulations face the pair, as Rachel's attempts at sabotaging Lee step up an explosive notch, and Camryn and Derek cause more harm than good in the house. And Kyle's brother Mike, is he truly looking for friendship, or has he an ulterior motive? Will they cope with impending parenthood?

Kyle and Lee's romance continues in this spicy novel full of lies, deceit, anguish, sex and passion.
Will Lee and Kyle finally get together, or will someone always get in their way.

You'll see I rated the first novel in this series a 3* well you'll be glad to know this book got a lot better. Not with typos, spelling or grammar, but the story plot. I didn't drag on as much as I thought it was going to been the second book.

There was something always going on, but its so much better. I cried my eyes out on a few scenes, because I am an emotional person when it comes to kids etc.

Great ending, it was perfect. I thought Kyle was adorable. I was annoyed with Aspen for taking so long to make her mind up, then with her friend sleeping with Mike. It all got a bit out of control.

But hey, authors want an honest review and that's what they get with me.

Break my fall (Broken#1) By Chloe Walsh

I was drunk but not drunk enough not to notice him. Good Lord, he was beautiful. Did boys like him really exist? I thought I might be imagining him. “You wanna have a shot with me, sweetheart?” He smiled crookedly and lifted the bottle up. The huskiness of his voice made him sound dangerous, yet he was soft spoken…an enigma.

When eighteen year old Lee Bennett moves in with her childhood friend Camryn, the last person she thought she'd meet was Kyle Carter. Kyle is everything Lee's been warned to stay away from, yet everything she's drawn to. His boldness, flirtatious nature and jaw dropping good looks have Lee's head in a spin, and she cant seem to stay away.
But the secrets of her past still haunt her, which makes her attraction to Kyle all the more scary...
Kyle Carter can't keep his eyes off his hot new room-mate, or his hands. Lee is fresh and innocent, and everything Kyle knows he can't have. But that doesn't stop him from wanting her.The pressure of living together combined with the sizzling chemistry fuels their unstoppable liaison.
Both know they shouldn't be together, yet can't bear to be apart. They fall into a twisted affair of love, passion and deceit. Kyle's on/off girlfriend Rachel has a hold on Kyle. She holds a dark secret of his past over him, that threatens to tear apart his relationship with Lee apart. The first girl he cared about. Lies, deceit, passion and first love fuel together in their tumultuous relationship.
Can Kyle break free from the bonds that hold him to Rachel? Can Lee forgive the indiscretion and lies. And will Kyle Carter be the man who can break her fall?

Really going to give an honest review on this one. Before reading this review, please note that I NEVER give a review about typos, grammar, or spelling etc. No one is perfect. I know I'm not and have made these same mistakes in my own novels, but Chloe seriously needs to get an editor, or someone to read through because there was so many. You couldn't miss them, avoid them, or carry on reading. I found myself reading the same paragraph over and over again, until I had it making sense to me. It really did ruin the flow. I am sorry to say, but it ruined the book.

Okay, now to the story plot. Really good. I found myself getting whiplash A LOT!! I know it's hard when you right a book to get readers to stay interested, so I know what Chloe was trying to achieve, but sometime I felt like the author would give Lee a break.

Then there was Kyle. I loved him. BUT .... I don't get why he would let a woman pull him around by his dick over having a car crash, technically, that was her fault anyway. I never understood that part, at all. I just wanted to scream at him to wake the fuck up.

That said .... the massive cliffhanger really, really, really bloody annoyed me. Although the author did a good job because I ended up buying the next installment LOL!!!

Bully By Penelope Douglas

My name is Tate. He doesn't call me that, though. He would never refer to me so informally, if he referred to me at all. No, he'll barely even speak to me.

But he still won't leave me alone.

We were best friends once. Then he turned on me and made it his mission to ruin my life. I've been humiliated, shut out, and gossiped about all through high school. His pranks and rumors got more sadistic as time wore on, and I made myself sick trying to stay out of his way. I even went to France for a year, just to avoid him.

But I'm done hiding from him now, and there's no way in hell I'll allow him to ruin my senior year. He might not have changed, but I have. It's time to fight back. Read on for my review ......
